I think the better question that needs to be asked isn't if Hornacek is the problem, its if Hornacek has lost the team?

Hornacek has a dead demeanor and doesn't impose any discipline. I am not surprised that there's laughing in the locker room at all. In fact, I would expect it.
I hate this year's team as a whole. **** this season.

Lol how long are you going to stay in denial?
I read through the GD thread and more and more people are starting to realize that Hornacek is an incompetent coach.
You'll eventually turn.

Re: Is Hornacek the problem?
Everyone ran MDA out of town when he didn't want to hire a defensive coordinator. Hornacek has a defensive coordinator and we suck worse than any of those 7 SOL teams on defense. In addition we run one of the most unwatchable offenses in the history of the NBA.
If anyone ever complains about MDA being a horrible defensive coach, while supporting Horny, they should just shut their yap.
How does Hornacek still keep his job, this team is going backwards.
I am tired on him getting excuse after excuse from every poster on this and every other NBA board. Some say it is on McDonough for not getting him the right players. Coach them up Horny that is what supposedly MDA never did and was ran out of town because of it. It is apparent that you have no clue either.
In addition if anyone ever complains about MDA not using his bench you should just go wash you mouth out. MDA had no bench. Horny has one of the better looking young players, Warren, that I have seen on our roster in a decade and he never gets a chance, WTF.
I know Horny will not get fired but it would not break my heart if he did get fired.
I think that could be as beneficial as any trade.
Rant over.

I've watched the same games you've watched. I've seen the mistakes he's made, the plays he could've run and the rotations his plays. He makes mistakes but a coach (an fairly inexperienced one might I add) can only do so much with the talent he has. We have too many iso players who don't pass and instead of forcing guys to become players they aren't, he's trying to play to their strengths.
Where was this thread last season when we won 48 games?

Re: Is Hornacek the problem?
Huge suns fan here, but maybe not the most knowledgable basketball fan ever.
That said, I don't believe in Hornacek. I think He is a poor coach. I see very, very bad rotations on a nightly basis and an atrocious team offense at times. No assists, and it feels like the team is constantly falling apart. I don't think Hornacek is helped by any of the personalities on the team though, outside of maybe Tucker. Both the Morris twins strike me as pre-madonnas, Dragic always seems frustrated with his teammates (even when He makes a mistake), Bledsoe thinks He's a top guard doing Phx a favor... it goes on.
So Idk, its tough to watch this team at times because you love to see it when the team gets it. I mean every team goes on runs (both positive and negative) but the Suns are wild on both ends. That aspect in particular, to me, spells poor coaching.
my two cents.

Everyone just goes with the popular opinion. Everyone turned on Dantoni when it became cool to hate Dantoni because of defense. Then last year the Hornacek hype train got out of control so the popular opinion is still that he's a great coach. I guarantee you guys that in 2 years it will be a known fact to everyone that Hornacek is garbage and all of the supporters will turn into haters.
BTW, Longabardi is hot garbage too. Please get rid of him.

Do you find the irony when people say "D'Antoni is only good because he had Steve Nash" and "Jeff Hornacek is only a bad coach because he doesn't have any good players"?
I find it so comical

Makes me sick.
We have **** Gerald Green and Isaiah Thomas on the bench. That is a good starting backcourt. Dragic and Bledsoe would both be better with a better coach. The players aren't the problem.

Yep, the Hypocrisy is amazing, and today McDonough came to his rescue and took the blame away from Horny.
The thing that really bothers me about Hornacek is that he never seems to take one for the team. Whether it be in the post game interview room or on the sideline. How many technicals does he have this season? I really don't think a lot of this team thinks that he has their back. I am probably wrong but I don't think so.
A lot of folks think that Bledsoe is not a good point guard. I think the jury is out. I see him getting into the paint virtually whenever we wants to but there is seldom If ever anyone there to get a pass. Some of this has to be on the coach. It always was when something went wrong when MDA was coach. We have three capable point guards but we are one of the worst teams in the league in assised baskets. We also rely far too heavily on the jump shot and almost always lose the Free throw game. This cannot be all on the players. It never was when MDA was here. However MDA never donned a Phoenix Suns player uniform.
Think how much better off we would be today if Steve Kerr would have realized that we needed better Defensive players and did his job and acquired them rather than suggesting another defensive coach. We really lacked a bench when MDA was coach. If anyone thinks that is not the case, check the rosters that he had at his disposal after the first 7. It was mighty sad.

I think the overwhelming answers from posters is still that no Hornacek isn't the problem.
I said it earlier, his experience as a former Suns player is giving him a much longer leash with many fans as opposed to a coach who was never a player here.
I think people will figure it out eventually even though I know it won't be anytime soon.

I unfortunately agree with this. Suns fans support of certain Suns players is really quite unbelievable. Hornacek really was not much as a Suns player, he found his way in Utah not Phoenix and he has the same number of rings as MDA, ZERO. That is the same number that the great Jerry Sloan has, ZERO. The 48 wins from last season seems to have bought him a long leash. The front office must think he is doing a fine job, even though we suck in most every team related category. When MDA averaged 58 wins a season and were the talk of the league he needed another coach to help him, not additional players. Hornacek is being told that they will improve the balance of the roster going forward and get him better players to fit his needs. When MDA had no back up for Nash and no legit sidekick to help Amare in the front court he was told, coach them up.
This team is fast becoming as unwatchable as the one that we watched with Lance Blanks and Lindsay Hunter at the controls.
Hornacek deserves some of the blame, doesn't he?

No, I can put my belief not in him because he used to play for the Suns...who really cares about that? There are plenty of ex Suns I wouldn't want coaching the team, but the fact that almost every player on the team had career years last year.
Because chemistry got disrupted because of bad personnel moves and certainly players need minutes for trade value purposes, I don't hold him responsible.
Does he make mistakes as a coach? Yes.
Despite close losses to elite teams, and a few losses to subpar teams while we were integrating new players, or more recently, had players out, we are still right there in the playoff mix with no superstars or even all star level players. Every other team in the mix has them.
The style can be ugly and we all wish Len would have started sooner but I trust his decisions over yours any day.
There are not a bunch of premier coaches sitting at home either. Last time fans wanted a guy gone and a defensive coach it was pretty ugly with Porter.

I think the fact that he's a 2nd year coach for a team in the 2nd year of a rebuild hired by a 2nd year GM is what's giving him a longer leash.

Agreed.
I do not understand why Warren did not play at least in the period when we did not have either Tolliver neither Wright.
GM has also something to do in this, as we have an average SF that cannot offer much (Tucker) signed as a franchise sign and locker room good element, then Marcus, who is an average SF too. Both have something of PF in their games.
Hornacek was expected to be a Mike Dantoni who would eventually provoke the players to play better defense and run an offense not so crazy, but has become an average coach whose coaching ideas are not clear to anybody.
Our offense is what our guards can create at any given play and that's all. There are no set plays, no Pn'Rs already organized, no nothing... we cannnot play just based on individual talent...

Freedom of speech only when it is the type of speech you want to hear? Yea, you can put it on ignore; just don't read it.
