10/7/2 in 16 minutes is pretty dang good for a raw player.
He needs minutes and I'd love it if we traded Al to accommodate it.

Re: Welcome To Charlotte: Noah Vonleh
Seriously think about this. Watching Noah last night, he grabbed 7 rebounds, blocked 2 shots, and played tough all around defense in only 16 minutes. Think how good the future frontcourt of Bismack, Vonleh, and MKG can be rebounding the ball, protecting the rim, and overall defensively. Add Zeller to the group, and just wow

Re: Welcome To Charlotte: Noah Vonleh
Do you think he'll be able to play much center in the future?
I kind of like the idea of Vonleh & Zeller together some, at least against smaller lineups. Would be pretty cool to have two bigs that can both defend, rebound, run the floor, and knock down long range jumpers.

Time will tell, but Cody is not a bad option at center against smaller lineups

Me too! In that bunch, we've got some guys that are so good at certain aspects of the game that it makes them particularly exciting to watch. Kemba has his nifty ball handling and speed. MKG has his lockdown defense. And Biz has his shot blocking. PJ isn't there yet, but hopefully he'll be exciting as a long range gunner.
I think Noah is going to turn out to be good at a lot of things. He looks to have all the tools.
It's a shame that Lance doesn't fit in, because his fancy passing is something that our young core lacks.

He was basically playing center last night when he was out there with Maxiell. Even though Max stayed in the paint more it was Vonleh that was covering his back on his second block and it was Vonleh who was cleaning up most of the boards when that duo was on the floor. I definitely think Vonleh can play C, easily, and not just in undersized lineups.
He's going to be a matchup nightmare in the future. A lineup of Zeller/Vonleh puts two big men on the floor who are super athletic while conceivably being able to shoot all the way out to the 3pt line. If it's Vonleh/Biyombo you've got two super-long guys blocking shots all over the place and controlling the boards on defense while Vonleh can be the PF on offense.

Noah needs to be getting major minutes. I'm really disappointed with how Clifford is integrating him (Or not really).

Re: Welcome To Charlotte: Noah Vonleh
Deep down I fear that this current treatment of Noah Vonleh might result in him being the next Darko Milicic instead of the next Chris Bosh. There's such a mental aspect to becoming a great player that it could be diminished without the vote of confidence unless that said player has a very strong belief in himself that can't be broken
Before my words get misconstrued, I'm not saying that Clifford is handling Vonleh's development the wrong way because maybe this is the perfect approach for his situation, but then again maybe it'll have the diminishing of potential effect. It all depend on the circumstances in which I wouldn't know unless I attended their practices and was in the locker room daily

Re: Welcome To Charlotte: Noah Vonleh
It's time to start playing Vonleh. He has a higher PER then Zeller or Williams (extremely limited sample size). We need more foot speed from our interior bigs and we need someone that can give us more defense with Biz out. Clifford has now had half a season to get him up to speed on the defense.
Zeller played 1400 minutes as a rookie. Vonleh has played 84 minutes so far this season. We need to make an investment in this kids development because we are going to need him down the road, and he might actually help us win some games right now.

He's 19. Not worried about hurting his development by not playing him now.

Re: Welcome To Charlotte: Noah Vonleh
I think he does need more minutes though, at least until he proves to be a liability. Every time he's played in actual game situations (not garbage time) he's shown us something and the impact has been overall positive. It's worth spoon feeding him 5 minutes a game at this point to help him get a feel for the pros.

Agree completely. Noah may be limited, but Cody has regressed to the role player he is destined to be, and Marvin stinks in most games. Get him minutes and see how quickly he can learn/contribute.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Welcome To Charlotte: Noah Vonleh
It has always been my wildest optimism for Vonleh to overtake both Zeller and Marv for the starting PF spot but he's never been giving a fair shake or chance to prove that he deserve more playing time.

What's the most minutes Vonleh played in a single game this season?

16 min in the blowout win at Denver. He had 10 pts 7 reb and 2 blocks. His only other double digit min games were 12 in a blowout loss to Atl and 10 min in a win vs Tor.
I will say he does look a little bit lost out there at times. He doesn't exactly pass the eye test, but he is still able to make a lot of positive things happen, hence his 15.39 per. He needs to see some burn to get more comfortable though.
I have been noticing Marvin's poor defense lately. He can't guard bigger guys like Moose in the post. He can't stay with quicker guys off the bounce. Marvin Williams is really a tweener in the sense he can't guard the Sf or PF position. We don't have much to lose by tring Vonleh instead at this point.
