Raps fan here but I really hope Korver makes it. Your team really deserves 4 all stars this year.

Martin basically did the same things Korver does - run through screens find the 3PT line and fire at all - except that Korver actually passes out of it a bit, plays better D, and (in this biased person's opinion) is a better shooter.
As far as the AS game, we'll see. I think he's gotten a lot of love over the off-season and the invite to the USA team tryouts has further elevated his stock. Not saying he's a shoo-in or anything, but I definitely see him on the short list and as atlantabbq points out, that short list is even shorter with Beal out. It won't take many stumbles for Kyle to get in - if he needed any at all...

Korver didn't make the cut, but Wade is injured so Korver or Brandon Knight could fill his spot.

OKC fan here, just letting you guys know I really think Korver deserves Wade's spot, best of luck!
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Well Deserved! This all star game will probably mean more to Kyle than anyone else seeing as how it's his first and probably only appearance.

Kyle Korver All Star Watch...
All stars can create their own shot or shots for others. Korver obviously has no ability to this but is a spot up shooting role player with 95% of his FGs being assisted. Very far from being an all star.
Should be fun to watch the other all stars use their talent/athleticism to get him an open 3 during the ASG... The East will really benefit from the floor spacing he provides...
Couldn't imagine a worse all star selection. Lol

Re: Kyle Korver All Star Watch...
Congrats to KK. It's well deserved. Though, I am disappointed the rejuvenated Milwaukee Bucks couldn't get Brandon Knight into AS game. His play and the team's performance this year are deserving of recognition as well.
Thanks for the well wishes. I would disagree on one thing: that All Stars are only players capable of creating their own shot. Mutombo, Antonio Davis, Ben Wallace all made deserving All Star appearances as limited offensive players who were superb at other specific skills. Specifically rebounding, shot-blocking, etc. They were awarded a place on the EC Team because they were elite at a specific skill set and helped their teams compete at a high level because of it. The same can be said of Kyle Korver. he is on pace to have the single greatest shooting season in NBA history while a key cog on the best team in the Conference.
Admittedly, there are others as worthy or moreso than KK. And this is definitely a byproduct of his team's overall success. (If we're 30-20 today...I doubt he even gets consideration.)
But the All Star game is about recognizing top players and top performances. And Korver is unequivocally the best shooter in the game this season which is why so many in the press, amongst the coaches and in the league offices have championed his inclusion on the team.

Re: Kyle Korver All Star Watch...
Why do you think Korver doesn't make his own shot or shots for others? He absolutely does. I would think it to be more than a little narrow minded to think that one would have to have the ball in his hands to be considered someone that creates shots.Sports Fellow wrote:All stars can create their own shot or shots for others. Creating your own shot can be done with the ball or without it. Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Rip Hamilton...these are guys that are really good off the ball at creating there own shot.
That said, I still think Brandon Knight should have made it.

This.
What the sportsfellow said is nonsense. You don't need to be a 1-1 player to make it.
Korver deserves to be an all star, yes. I agree. I just think Knight deserved it more.
I'm happy for Korver, but BKnight shoulda made. I get the argument for both though & glad KK made a game. I'm happy for him.
there's only 6 teams in the East over .500 & yeah Korver's % are insane, but Knights 43-41-89 isn't subpar. Plus way more shots, running an offense & being a better defender. Plus being 29-23 w/ that team? Knight shoulda made it.

Sure shots can open up as the result of movement/ respecting a shooter but name another all star who has 95% of their field goals assisted? Any shooter provides similar spacing, movement it's nothing spectacular. All stars however have more talent which allows for creativity, highlghts, just more potential WITH the ball. They don't need to rely on their offensive system/team for every shot though they can benefit from it, they are not so incredibly one dimensional. Literally ONE thing that guy can do.

Korver is averaging 13 points on .736 TS% on 95% of his shots (96% from 3).
Reggie Miller made the All Star Game at age 34 averaging 18 pts on .603 TS%, and while we don't have shooting/assist stats for that season, the season after he was assisted on 79% of his shots (88% from 3). A couple seasons after that, he was scoring 13 PPG on .597 TS% while assisted on 93% of his shots.
So Korver is statistically better than Reggie Miller a few years after he made the All-Star Game, and comparable/maybe worse (5 fewer points but on +13 TS%) than Reggie who DID make the All-Star Game.
I don't think anyone questions Reggie as a deserving All-Star. Korver is undoubtedly a worse player, but he's also a better shooter which to me opens up his case for making the ASG in a historic season.

Not "any shooter" can do what Korver has done. There's a reason it's a historic season. Talent is not equivalent to 1v1 abilities, unless you think Jamaal Crawford is a top ten NBA player. Also, Korver is a solid rebounder, passer and defender, there isn't literally one thing he can do, there's just literally ONE thing he can do better than any other player in the history of the game.
The particular thing I want to point out though is that the movement especially is a skill, it's MUCH tougher to shoot coming off of screens than it is to stand in the corner and hit open threes. There are very few guys in the NBA who can play the way Rip Hamilton or Reggie played.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

I remember all those crazy dribbling moves and one on one offensive performances Alvin Robertson, Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, Roy Hibbert, Dikembe Mutumbo, Brad Miller, Tyrone Hill and others had...
You are right..being exceedingly good at a particular skill while being solid at others has never resulted in a allstar birth. Ever.

He has no potential to do anything on offense other than catching and shooting. Clear cut role player. Nice

Just for the record...THIS is what a troll looks like.
No tangible contribution to the board.
Just inflammatory comments to infuriate the fanbase...
Have a happy Friday the 13th, kind sir.
