Point Guard Position (Deadline Deal)

Post#1 » by Nebula1 » Tue Feb 10, 2015 10:55 pm

With the trade deadline coming up, I think it continues to be clear Morey will target a point guard. So who does your gut say it will be?

Goran? Might be tough to pull that off at the deadline, but no doubt he's a Rocket next season.

Knight... can shoot but Milwaukee likes him. Lawson? Expensive player but Nuggets are done.

Burke has fallen out of the rotation in Utah.

Calderon is a nice 3pt shooter.

Did I forget somebody? Deron??

Are the Rockets "staying Pat" with Bev?

???? Pick up to 2 names you think are the favorites to be a Rocket in a couple days.

Isaiah Thomas. Reggie Jackson. Jerryd bayless. Jarrett Jack. Luke ridnour. Aaron Brooks.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Calderon will be the easiest to get. No to Thomas and suns aren't trading Dragic. Denvers looking to pair Lawson with a big name. Knight would be a good get and think he will be somewhat cheap. OKC will not trade Reggie to Houston.

I want AB!!!!!!!!

Rockets also needs another big. I fear Dwight will be done for the season.

AB makes a lot of sense and he's shooting a career best 45% from three.
He might not want to come back though after Morey asked him to waive his no trade clause to get Jordan Hamilton, who did nothing for us in the playoffs and we didn't even bother re-signing.
This would be his 4th time as a Rocket (traded for Dragic, traded for Hamilton, cut to make room for Howard but re-signed so Rockets got rid of him 3 times already)

Can't help but think Brooks would have been guarding Lillard on that last shot and would have had the speed to at least contest it better than Parsons did.

The Trade Deadline is February 19th, and the Rockets cannot re-acquire Brooks until February 20th, so he's not coming back. :(

Who then?

Milwaukee is winning, they are not going to trade us Knight
Phoenix is fighting for playoff, this is first time in 5 years they have a chance making it, i know OKC is catching up, but many team have injuries, so their chance ain't too bad
Calderon we can have but he's pretty bad this year
Denver is not trading Lawson
good luck with Rubio
but at the end of the day we don't know the whole story
Morey has to go down his list and search get the one that fit with this team
Harden wasn't available on the trade market when we got him

top 3 candidates i think we have a chance getting and fit our game are Collison, Jack, and Hill

but i have a feeling we aren't getting a PG

Knight doesn't fit well in Milwaukee, but I do think the Rockets come away with at least a Calderon. You have to figure Morey wants a point with a stronger 3pt FG%.

I won't be shocked at all to see Lawson moved to a Miami or something.

And his contract.

Contrary to what seems to be the general opinion from Knicks fans on this site, I believe that Morey will look at the Calderon situation as something where NY needs to offer Houston a reason to take his contract. I don't think that the Knicks will see it that way.

Yes, but keep Bev.

Calderon is more a shooter for Harden's ball dominance since Bev isn't hitting.

That said, I fully expect Bev to play better after the deadline and speculation is over. THat's got to be messing with him.

Yes, Morey certainly shouldn't offer much because of the remaining $$ owed to Calderon.

Wouldn't mind if we got Calderon and Aldrich from Knicks. Cole is a decent back up center.
Problem is matching salaries.
Shved can be traded by himself but can't be packaged with another player in a trade.
That leaves Papa and Terry as big dollar trade pieces.

Shved's restriction lifts Feb 18 though, correct?

Hm. Well we traded for him on Dec 19 so I guess Feb 19, deadline day.
SO maybe we can include him in a package deal after all.

I think that is why he's on the roster and the deal was made when it was. We'll likely see a last minute trade including at least him.
