I think after all the hooplah and everything looking like it was going sideways, this hire will work out fine for you guys. Karl is a successful coach, isn't he known as sort of a player's coach too? Regardless of which way DMC was leaning before the hire, I think Karl will develop a good relationship with him.
You guys also needed a strong presence at head coach to partially deflect all this other stuff about how much Vivek gets involved.

Especially to DeMarcus, as in Denver he usually had his bigs stand outside the court at times so they stay out of the way and be available to dump-offs and offensive rebounds only pretty much.
He adjusted well with Melo who plays totally different then how he'd want, so working with Cousins shouldn't be an issue I'd think. I think he'd make DeMarcus a more effective and efficient passer more then anything.
If I were him I'd play him in some of the same ways he played Melo. He posted Melo up a lot and let him be the driver. Cousins is excellent at that and is a true triple threat center. While I think that getting Cuz open looks at the rim would be awesome, a guard initiated dribble drive would be a huge mistake for this team and be essentially what was done under Keith Smart. Also a reliance on Cousins being mostly a finisher at the rim would be missing the boat because he's more talented than that role requires and doesn't have a ton of vertical lift. I'm hoping Karl puts in a motion offense based around Cousins ability to draw doubles and triples. Championship style basketball is right there waiting for any coach that recognizes it.

Re: Update : Kings and Karl nearing 4 year deal
For now, it looks like the existing assistant coaches will remain intact, but in the future, in addition to the already mentioned Vance Walberg, our very own Hall of Famer "The Rock" Mitch Richmond and George Karl's son Coby Karl are both mentioned as being considered as possible assistants to George Karl. Also, "The Glove" Gary Payton is publicly interested in becoming an assistant coach, and intends to reach out to Coach Karl. Payton seems to have taken a real interest in and liking to Cousins, and really wants him to succeed. I think Payton and Cousins talking together everyday can be really, really good.
