He is not a wing. Byron is a good coach, but at tanking, he is the best ever in NBA, the sole purpose he put Kelly on SF is for tank. I did this in NBA 2k14.

Playing him in an uncomfortable position serves many purposes: It highlights for Kelly the need for him to improve as a rebounder before he can get extended minutes at PF, it gives him "some/any" court action as opposed to sitting, his presence does help stretch the floor a bit, and, at the end of the day, as you stated, Laker games these days are not exactly high stakes poker--they have substantial freedom and carte blanche to experiment at their whim.

Good post, pretty sure the directive from upstairs to Scott is to be playing Black & Kelly even if it is out of position to get them court time at any costs.

If you quit being a drama queen and see around the league, its always a team that makes these decisions that includes the president of basketball ops, general manager and the coach. There's a reason all these guys get paid to do a job together.

Scott is doing what anyone in the Lakers position would be during a dead season. Giving young unknowns burn.

I feel a lot of Kelly's struggles might be down to ball movement with the starters. Hill is launching jumpers like no tomorrow, Sacre never met a shot he did not like, Clarkson is not yet a point and Ellington is basically playing for a contract. I find it rather interesting that Bulls have the same issues when they run Mirotic at SF even with better ball movement, all he takes is off balance jumpers and running floaters from time to time.

Before my nba.com addiction cools off, here's some food for thought. R Kelly has the highest foul drawing percentage on post ups in the league at 45.5%. The foul drawing has allowed him to amass 1.09 points per possession on post ups, good for 12th in the league, albeit on a minuscule sample size.

Byron Scott has these boys playing good ball right now. Im pretty happy with whats going on on the court. Clarkson is coming along nicely.

Actually Clarkson making shots has masked several problems with the offense and his own game. What has happened is that he's made a ton of long 2s, but those long 2s are usually the result of severe over dribbling around screens and getting no where. There ends of being like 4 seconds on the clock and Clarkson takes a long 2. While he makes it, it doesn't change the fact that the offense was beyond ugly, and he isn't going to make those every time. The guy himself needs to become more assertive when using screens. Get around the big man and go deep, don't kind of go in then pull out looking for a rescreen.

Props to Scott though for posting up Boozer and Sacre early, as both immediately try to get deep post position when they come down the floor. Ed does too, but for some reason Hill never passes to him when he fights for position in the paint.
