Why does anyone think Faried is available in a trade? Maybe Denver will ask for JV or Demar...

can JJ Hickson play the 5 though?
Raps should instead try to push for for a Ross, + for Faried trade.
More long term upside, IMO.

I suspect Faried is someone they intend to keep. Unless you offer them something they can't refuse, obviously. Chandler they like, but Denver seems like they're in the mood to do some major retooling, so taking a chance on a young Ross who has a lot of upside makes some kind of sense.

Unless we're going to do something with the extra money we free up, this is a short term move, the type the leafs always make that doom them to mediocrity. I don't think it moves the needle enough for us to be worth doing.

Two reason I wouldn't do this is because:
1) we help them with exprings + they'll get Ross on a rookie scale.
2) It'll probably have an effect on the NYK/DEN pick.

Only thing I would offer is exprings for an "upgrade" from a team that's looking to tank, or wants expirings.

We have $28.9M in expirings:
Fields/Hayes/Hansborough/Stiemsmsa ($16.4M)

Amir/Lou ($12.4M, most likely won't be traded)

If JJ can get 25 minutes a night he makes Faried redundant. When you are an undersized pf in this league you have to do more than just grab rebounds and dunk.

But that's his downside.

No thats his backside.

Lowry's upside is mental and psychological.

Wilson Chandler is average and Hickson is average. I would rather let Ross rot on the bench than take a deal like this

The only way I do this trade is if they forfeit the right to keep the NYK pick and the Raptors can get the better of the 2016 Den/NYK picks which they won't do.

I think the deal improves the team and doesn't really hurt you long term, so it certainly passes the Masai test. If it happens, I can't see how the Raps lose in the 1st round of the playoffs with this type of depth.

Is Hickson really that big man defender/rebounder that we're looking for? I can understand Chandler being at the 3 which would allow our bench to be:
Vasq/Lou/JJ/PP/Hickson.. really deep bench but this means that Masai has really given up on Ross, Hansbrough doesn't really provide us anything aside from hustling and getting fouls.

I would try something a bit different. They really want to get rid of McGee. I'm not a big a fan of his but he only has one more year remaining after this. Chandler also had one year which is a team option.

I would trade hands + fields + Ross for
McGee +Chandler +2016 pick protection removal with NY

We push our expirings to next year. Get a better chance for a higher pick in 2016 and get to experiment with Chandler. McGee gives us a shotblocker and some size. Yes he is overpaid and not very smart but in a better team environment as a 4th big of the bench he gives us some good raw talent and folks the back up centre gap.

I wouldn't pull the trigger on this deal. For one, why trade for Chandler when you already have James Johnson? Casey would probably prefer to play Chandler over James because Wilson can stretch the floor.

Also you'd be taking on additional salary which would limit our offseason financial flexibility. Lastly, I'm keeping Ross. He's played like crap which probably means his extention would be cheap (don't see another team signing him to an offer sheet worth more than a few peanuts).

I'd rather TRoss over Wilson Chandler

Chandler is overrated and I like the combo of TRoss/JJ at the 3 better than him. DeMar and Lou Will at the 2.

The more I watch him the more I think Chandler is a scrub. I'd rather take a chance on Gallo than take Chandler.

Hickson is not big enough of an upgrade to warrant trading TRoss for Wils

I feel like Hayes is untouchable. He is a huge locker room presence and beloved by everyone on the team.

I like this move. Though I would prefer a defensive big man but it seems like there are a lack of quality big men available for trades. I assume MU will be looking for the next nurkic or gorbert in the next draft. We address 2 major problems at the wing and rebounding with this trade. I like WC at the 3. He's a good 3rd option in scoring. Having JJ come off the bench helps the second unit . Not a fan of Hickson but I rather have him than Hansbrough. We need to sell high on ross while he still has value.

It's funny cause last night I literally had a dream that Ross (and some others don't remember all) was traded to Denver for Faried. lol. I woke up and had to check online.

Then I see this. hahahh

I hope this is a rumor and it lights a fire under Ross. He's hit a slump but we really need him to be a legit threat this year.

Hayes has 5 million expiring.... matches roughly no?

Agreed. People in this thread have implied he's a good defender. That couldn't be further from reality. I question how much basketball people are watching besides the Raptors.

Hickson is terrible - you could compile a lengthy clip of him missing layups unguarded during his time in Denver alone; mentioned this a month or so back, but Lavoy Allen is the category of player (and character) that merits adding. NOT Hickson - Denver may be having a fire sale, but even so, does anyone really think they're trying to jettison their BEST assets?

No point wasting energy even discussing something this flimsy, without a legit source.
