I'd still be on board with this for an effective two-way SG with a consistent 3-pt stroke. KK's spot in the starting lineup is safe for this year. No doubt.

But, if we can find a nice two-way SG to challenge Kyle moving forward, I'd be very okay with that.

I think most would agree that just because Korver worked out doesn't mean we should start breaking open the bank and start giving multiple long term deals to any 33 yo wing. Korver worked and that's great, but let's keep in mind that he's probably the exception who proves the rule.

Very much agree. I hope we remember this adage as we go into contract negotiations with Millsap in a few months. He's earned a nice raise. But let's not go overboard. With few young pieces to build around going forward, locking ourselves into a ton of aging players could be problematic in the next 3-5 years.

Also...AL's extension should be the single most important negotiation we engage in this summer.

I would think Kyle's spot will be safe for at least 1 or 2 more years. If not, it means that we have landed a complete stud. Kyle has been one of the SG's in the league this year and our offensive rating plummets when he goes to the bench.

As far as this Horford extension, do any players sign extensions with a year left in their contract? I don't recall seeing this, at all, recently. I would guess that both parties will prefer to wait until he becomes a Free Agent.

There have been a few...

There’s been a run on veteran extensions of late. Four players have signed such deals within the past six months after only two had signed them since the 2011 lockout that begat the existing collective bargaining agreement. Zach Randolph, Tony Parker, Anderson Varejao and Rudy Gay all agreed to forfeit free agency, where the rules would have allowed them to sign for more money over a greater amount of time. Players who sign veteran extensions can tack no more than three years on their existing deals, and they can earn raises of no more than 4.5%. Free agents can re-sign with their teams for five seasons and raises of up to 7.5%.

We discussed it a few weeks back very briefly. here

Gotcha. Well I'm certainly cool with us paying Horford if he is willing. I would think that he would wait due to the uncertainty of the franchise. This thing could be a trainwreck by the end of next year. The new owners could dump Ferry and sign a GM that Bud doesn't agree with which causes Bud to leave after next year. That would make for one toxic situation around these parts.

Not trying to be a jerk or give a grammar lesson, but it should be "Korver re-signs for four years" ?

Athletes who renew their contracts re-sign with their teams (note the hyphen). If they were to resign they would do the opposite—leave.

Gotta love it when people preface their statement by saying what they are not about to do and then they do just that.

good signing, this guy spaces the floor out for the hawks and works well with al horford which is why they are one of the best teams in the league.
