is PRIME Ben Gordon a bad Example? His Prime didn't last long but he could score the ball.

Re: D'angelo Russell
in a situation like the Lakers, he;d be the ideal fit. with Randle's ability to face up and score or create, the allows Russell to play off ball. Clarkson also can play on or off the ball which means D'Angelo can find a good balance there as well.
In the NBA he is no doubt a PG. As somebody else said, the big question is if he or Mudiay is the better long term prospect.

the only thing holding him back is the body and god given stuff, cus he can do it all, hes a SG though that can play PG, in nba he wont be a full time PG that can play some SG...hes 6'4 and very thin, and that body type he will always be relatively thin...also hes not athletic or blinding fast for nba standards...but the skill is already all there, handle and shot is elite for his age...usually high picks are athletic beast that need to refine skill and hes the opposite

outside of pace of play and skillset to play both guard spots. not really.
Unless we're factoring in that waffle colored complexion.

Some things remind me a bit of Goran Dragic. I dont think you can say he is like any 1 player though.

The smoothness of his game and shot reminds me of Curry a little

You must be a joy at parties.
I think Brandon Roy isn't a good comparison but its the best comparison I've thought of mainly because of that feel for the game he has. His ability to control the pace of a game (which is what I'll always remember Roy for) is uncanny and like Roy he's a great playmaker that doesn't make many mistakes. I say take Brandon Roy, give him Eric Gordon's shooting ability, Brandon Jennings' strength, and Manu's vision and you have D'angelo Russell. His floater game is amazing, he can board despite his lack of strength, and he is a cerebral passer.

Roy's vertical and body control were sick, not to mention +25 lbs of strength on him.
It's not a good comparison.

Re: D'angelo Russell
Aside from very young 7 foot dudes who need some work.. Russel may be the guy who's gonna do well soon and is a "safe pick'. There's been high picks who had "athletic" but really never had the skills-intangibles. Some did okay.. others are bench guys. How good will Russell be? Hard to say but I'd say pretty good.dballislife wrote:the only thing holding him back is the body and god given stuff, cus he can do it all, hes a SG though that can play PG, in nba he wont be a full time PG that can play some SG...hes 6'4 and very thin, and that body type he will always be relatively thin...also hes not athletic or blinding fast for nba standards...but the skill is already all there, handle and shot is elite for his age...usually high picks are athletic beast that need to refine skill and hes the opposite

Re: D'angelo Russell
roy isnt a great comparison...he can shoot it and handle it and pass it, like roy...but roy was 2 inches taller, about 20 pounds heavier, a lot stronger, and a lot more athletic, all this makes a big difference
but hey if guys like beal and waiters and oladipo can go 3 and 4 and 2 in recent drafts...this kid can easily go 1-3

Re: D'angelo Russell
Though he is shorter and weaker, his game is a lot like Joe Johnson. Both are phenomenal ball-handlers and passers, know how to operate in the post, and can make mid-range and long-range jumpers at high efficiency. The bodies are very different, but how they play is unbelievably similar.

Re: D'angelo Russell
Just brushing up on some of his high-light videos. Kind of looks like Klay when he shoots it* and MCW when he handles*. Definitely going to have to use his skill to make up for a lack of elite athleticism and finishing ability. I would be afraid of taking him #1, but he's gonna be a player in this league without much risk.
*(Edit - To be clear, this is more an aesthetic statement than a comparison of efficiency.)

Bradley Beal. With slightly better passing, worse defense and rebounding.
