I also feel our staff would do amazing things with Exum.

I finally wonder if some people would have done a Klay Thompson for Giannis trade last year (assuming Klay re-signed with us)

Exum for Mids would be interesting, but moving Knight instead would be better.

If Middleton was a lottery pick how would people feel about letting him get away?

I guess it depends where in the lottery. The second pick has been a graveyard. I was fully aboard the Exum at #2 train, but the weaknesses of Parker were nowhere near what I feared. Middleton has been great, but I just don't see him becoming the multiple all-star you expect out of a top 3 pick. I think he's a Wes Matthews sort of player. He could conceivably make an All-Star game or two, but he's more likely to be a top performing 3-and-D sort of player. If you can get somebody like that drafted at the 7-spot or lower, I'd happily take that. Middleton has clearly been giving that.

Exum's ceiling - at this time - exceeds that. I think things will come into focus about a year from now. By March 2016, we should be able to gauge Exum's trajectory more accurately. The other huge draw of Exum is that it further moves Knight off primary ball-handling duties. With the emergence of Giannis and an idea of what Parker can do, this sort of plan to bring in someone else is less pressing. Furthermore, Knight has both played off the ball more and has incrementally gotten better with the ball in his hands. I think Exum can be special regardless of situation. Middleton is great in present circumstances and seems to be getting better. It's an interesting situation posed.

This fascination of Exum by so many posters is mind boggling. The guy was a top 3 pick. So what! Enes Kanter was the third pick in 2011. 3 years experience and he is still an unknown as to if he will ever even be an above average starter. Exum is likely to fall in the same category. This team has no need to take HUGE risks on unknowns. We already have two such big headaches in Larry Sanders and whether Jabari will be able to return with physical tools he had before a major knee injury. Now you want to trade talented young players who continue to show improvement away for another mystery. That's insane. This team is quite good and needs to add younger players who have shown they are NBA ready, not take crazy flyers. With many of your people's suggestions, its like you think we should be on a 5 year building plan. We are not 5 years away if we use the assets we do have to add the pieces we need along with the great young talent we already have, we can easily be a top 4 playoff team next year and the years to come.

Why is it so many posters want to devalue what we currently have vs being thankful we are playing well and showing improvement game after game. I guess some people are just never happy.

I wouldn't trade Middleton for him but id have no issue at all with trading Knight for exum.

I dunno, maybe because this is a board where we talk about ideas for making the team better? Or I guess we could just go 'Everything is fine' which wouldn't really make this an interesting place.

chonestown has probably put a better explanation forward than I could have! I really, really like Mids. Exum has that glittery potential though, and his length and skills would fit really well with what we have. Mids had lottery talent, apparently. Maybe he develops his handle and explodes like Klay. It's a really interesting proposition. I just remember the biggest knock on Exum was his shooting, and this is basically what he's shown. Can't imagine other talents have disappeared.

Is there any legitimate information? This trade for Exum pipe dream masturbation has made this thread unreadable.

We've just barely moved on from trying to acquire Jeremy Lamb on here. I have a feeling you won't get your wish.

We're trying extremely hard to trade Larry. I know thats not new or exciting rumor, and I have no idea what team would assess his situation and attempt to acquire him, but apparently we're exploring all options.

Guys who I think might work for Larry could be Hibbert or Lance Stephenson.

Also Landry and Jason Thompson from Sac. Or Javale Mcgee from Denver.

I think Faried's contract is also coming with McGee then.

Unless I'm missing something, there is no player with the last name Johnson on Phoenix's roster. Who exactly are you purposing to trade?

There's plenty of crap players making a lot of money, so all it takes is for one of those teams to take a risk on Larry. I could see it happen.

Trade Targets

I would offer up Parker/Knight for Wiggins/Rubio this summer. I think we'd be legit contenders with that squad.
