The Amar'e experiment is over. On to the next few experiments.

Rumor has it! That Amar'e is still available on RealGM's Build a Team game...

If Phil pulled that off, I would put a put a paper bag over my head, paste a picture of Jeannie on it, poke a hole through the mouth, and give Phil the best BJ he's ever had in his entire life.[/quote]

LMAO, everyone is so eager to either gag on him or kick his teeth in that I haven't seen anything about the actual buyout terms. Has anything been said about whether or not this will help the luxury tax crap? Or did they just do him a favor without saving anything?

Amar'e is gone. I know nostalgia has some posters wishing he comes back on a cheap contract, but I just don't see this happening.

Phil finally has an opportunity to build this team with his own vision. With roster spots open and the choice between a hobbled and injury prone Amar'e on the last legs of his career, or a young athlete who's healthy, hungry and ready to do whatever it takes to earn a spot (a Galloway type), I'm sure Phil's choice will be clear.

Thanks for trying, Amar'e. However it's time for us to move forward into a new KNICKS era. Good luck to you!

How long until Carmelo becomes an Amar'e-type contract? Over/under 2 years?

In reality this is what I would do, get the guys we KNOW will be here (baring trades) playing time in the NBA so they can either show case them TO trade them or at least get them up to speed and working together as a team.

At this point playing veterans, or playing to win is pointless. I do not want to see the players give up, they should play with heart and passion every day that is what a real competitor does/is. But as a fan of the franchise I want the tank to roll on while we make the most of the opportunity to train the young guns.

Hopefully the next big free agent we sign doesn't suck as much as Amare did

Everyone knows I've been waiting for this since the moment he was signed, but I'm going to keep it simple.

Good riddance, you miserable waste of money, and thank you for bringing us nothing.

I think we might help some other teams who are involved in trades or possibly more 10 day guys. The timing of the Amare buyout announcement is interesting....

I wish him luck. Aside from the money (which is nothing to sneeze at, of course...), he didn't have much here.

dakomish23 wrote:Wonder what would of happened in '11 if Chicago had gone after him instead of loser Boozer. A peak Rose running the pick and roll w/ a still healthy Amare and Noah / Gibson backing him defensively could of beaten that Miami team.

Or Thibs could of ran him into the ground and broke him down earlier

It's like Thibs and D'Antoni are two opposite extremes, one a offensive zealot and the other a defensive nut. But other than that same crazy habits of short rotations and high minutes allocation to players.
I will only cherish the wins and ignore everything else, because that's the only way to survive as a Knicks fan.

I may be missing something but for the rest of this season how does that affect us as fans? I really don't care how much this cost old Jimmy. I am happy for STAT because he now has a chance to help another team win a championship. Now our Knicks can fill a slot with someone that is hungry and possibly win a spot on the team for next season.
