Charles Barkley was traded to Lakers in 1992

before he went to phoenix, he was actually a laker for a little while, until the 76ers backed out of the deal. That could have possibly meant a big 3 with shaq/kobe/barkley or maybe shaq wouldn't have even came to the lakers if barkley was already here. That would be crazy. Barkley was considered 1 of 2 of the best players in the NBA in the early 1990s. Jordan was the other.

that trade was done in 92....shaq/kobe was 96, I don't remember how good he was at that time but I don't think we could've done Shaq with Barkley around.

I wonder what the deal was and who was involved. Kind of reminds us that this home run or no hit approach is not new to the Lakers management.

Worthy was pretty much at the end of his prime by then. Would have been interesting to see Barkley on that team tbh they were pretty up and down and fun from what I can recall so Barkley's ability to rebound and run the breaks would have been nice.

Which is why I don't understand why jimmy gets criticized for it.

It was for Worthy and Elden Campbell.
Big Game was pertty much done, but Elden was a young promising center.
I think I would have still done the trade for Chuck.

That was primetime Sir Charles too. Can't even really picture how that would have gone. Seems like fake reality.

Elden Campbell was used later on in the trade for Glen Rice. Barkley being in town makes Magic's return murky. I'm not sure they play on the same team in 1996. Then there's Shaquille O'Neal and the others. Barkley on that 92-93 Lakers team wouldn't have made the Finals; the Suns team he ended up playing for had won 50+ just two seasons prior. It was for the best.
