if amare & billups don't get hurt that team might have been something. neither one was the same after that year. i've said it before and i'll say it again, the knicks are not just mismanaged, they are horribly unlucky.

True. It was supposed to be a 2-3 year window on that pairing.

I never had it out of the ECF. Maybe not even in. But the pairing never really got a chance to try.

Semantics at it's best.. Whatever dude. You said no one was offering him guaranteed money. The Suns did offer him guaranteed money. I acknowledged NY was offering him more. Bottom line he took our offer. Said all the right hings when he got here, and did everything he could to help get this franchise outta of the gutter.

No. I specifically said that he came to NYC for the guaranteed money nobody else was offering him, implying the amount of money. You're the one arguing semantics here.

He deserves praise, but this is more revisionist nonsense. He did everything he could to help the franchise, so long as it fit into his "Amar'e Stoudamire, max-cat, all-star, #STATcity, most recognizable basketball player in NYC" persona/image.

It was cool when he actually was that dude, and it's probably a piece of why he was so brazen to take the money and speak confidence into any live mic in the first place, but it's been gone for years now and the only thing Amar'e has worked hard at since is trying to hang onto and/or reclaim that status/standing - NOT doing whatever he could to help the franchise.

Amare never brought us very many wins or playoff success, but he tried to give all he could. He worked as hard as he could to give what he had. On this team, it wasn't enough. Maybe will the Mavs, he will contribute to their playoff run. Mazel Tov, Amare, you finally caught a break. Best of luck.

Now, on with the rebuilding.

i dont believe amare's situation was bad luck.
its like giving 5 year max contract to d.rose this summer.(i know he wont be FA)

it was league-wide known fact. giving 5 year mxa contract for getting 1 maybe 2 year star contrubition financially ok for knicks but nba cap rules are strict so it wasnt wise move at all.
billups case was little different but we also used amnest on him :banghead:
we should've used for stat...

Based on what?

They asked him to improve his post game so Chandler could be the primary pick and roll player and he did that. They asked him to come off the bench, and he did that. He played limited minutes when they asked him to do that, and when they pushed him over 30 he was willing to do that too.

I'm sure he does want to reclaim his status but I don't see how he put that ahead of the team.

it's saying amare was the biggest disappointment. not the worst player on the list. the one who disappointed most in the amount of wins he was supposed to add.

Acquiring Eddy Curry was way worse. I don't need no stinkin' stats to back that up either.

Not only was his contract an albatross, but he cost us several draft picks while he was just a lazy POS.

Cavs getting kevin love was worse than us getting stat. At least he didn't cost us any young players

Amare is still the best finisher on a pick and roll I've ever seen. His timing, his hands, his power. No one was stopping him when used in the pick and roll. I'm pissed we didn't run it more here with Calderon.

He's going to put in some work on the fun side of the ball with the Carlisle schemes

Phenomenally phenomenal. Good riddance, hopefully Bargnani and Melo are next.

You have to admit he does look better with this instead of a Knicks uniform.
