Miller and a future 1st seems to be a better offer than what most non-Phoenix fans are contemplating. The consensus is that he's a decent player, but not enough better than the Aaron Brooks and DJ Augustines of the league to be worth the extra price tag.
Except
He IT might be available.
He is signed so you can keep him if you give something up. We would then get his production and hold him as an asset so what you give up isn't lost value.
Sure. We could have just gotten a DJ or Brooks in the off season for a cheap 1 year with player option but we haven't been able to attract one of those yet. And like DJ moved from CHI, its a year by year proposition. CHI did well to replace him with Brooks.
So they could just let it roll and take their chances this off season. I expect they are the best position to do find someone this offseason compared to others where player picked other teams.
Or you can try to lock in and get someone that will help now while moving pieces that aren't long term pieces anyway in a year where the top team all have questions.
Salary dump, opening the court and a big as things PHX wants so the trade holds value on its own right there.
Its really just a matter of working out the picks and for whatever we give up, again, some of that value is kept by getting a player teams would want in the future.
As for this years or next years pick. That's a finer detail that should be able to get worked out.
After this, the next big problems to work out are:
1) Great coach.. once you have that, we will see how they work out the front court which is still an issues.
2) need to spread the floor more and balance the line ups better and max Gortat with more PnR
At some point, they need to separate Wall, Beal, Nene, Gortat. To many primary scorers without one being a stretch.
If Wall, Beal, Gortat are your main scoring options, then you need a 3rd/4th option SF and PF that are defensive minded. Otto can be that SF one day. But Nene will never be just a defensive rebounding PF and you need either that, or a S4.
I know we all want KD, but the better way to go might be.
Wall, Beal, Otto, LMA, Gortat
So do they go all in for LMA if it mean forgetting about KD ?
