Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 49 hours)
Lawson, Middleton, Giannis, Jabari, and [giant Baltic rebounding rookie center that Chuck Diesel recommends] makes a great starting lineup for next season.
I am probably in the minority when I say that while a huge fan, I could care less about a playoff run this year.

No doubt. But Lawson is owed $11 and $12 million the next two-years. Dragic might cost 5/$80 to 5/$100.

Once again, outside of Middleton I don't know where the shooting comes from. Giannis and Jabari are going to be hard to play together unless Giannis is our center or he learns how to shoot the 3. I'm becoming concerned with the Giannis/Jabari fit as both seem to be best served at PF.

Jabari's 3 point shot was pretty bad in college, but I'm confident it'll develop at this level. I think a lot of his problem was he was out of shape (which is a separate issue)

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 49 hours)
Yeah, I think Lawson/Middleton/Giannis/Jabari/defensive big is extremely tough. Lawson is one of the best passers in the league, while also being able to score efficiently at solid volume, that's my attraction to him. I also don't view a Knight based package as costing us a ton long term either, as I don't believe Knight's dollar vs. win impact value will be there on his next contract. Lawson is also a respectable 3 point shooter.
It also solves the PG issues for two seasons beyond this one, and allows us to draft and develop that position as opposed to ponying up monstrous money under the new CBA (if a PG worth signing even becomes available).

Lawson is .373 career from 3, which isn't a sniper, but it's respectable. We will need Giannis/Jabari to improve their range, but we need that under any scenario. We are without question a better team offense with Lawson running the show vs. Knight though. I don't know how anyone can reasonably debate that.

Im sure he'd take it but I wouldn't want anything to do with signing him at 5 years $100+ million.
Yeah, I would not want Dragic at that pricetag, even though I think he'd be a great fit here. And if you gave up an asset for him, you need to be prepared to pay that type of contract just in case he is offered something crazy by NY, LAL, etc. Otherwise it is like the Redick deal where you spend the asset for a 30-game rental.
That's why Lawson, Taj and even Isiah Thomas have more appeal to me since they contractually are tied up for another year or two after this one.
I'd be fine with a deal for Plumlee and IT. I wonder if they'd take Bayless back since he seems like a guy who could fit for them in their 3 point guard system without causing a huge problem about minutes or crying about the ball. IT could get 25+mpg for us and fill it up off the bench. He'd also be some Knight insurance in case of injury or someone offering him a contract we don't want to match.

which is cheap compared to what max free agents will cost in the following offseason.
why save our money to try and be a player then? trash mle free agents are going to be making 8-9 mil a year. trevor arizas are going to be had for 15.
if we want to be a player we need to do it NOW. with the way the team is playing, with the young core we have...the window to make a jump is NOW imo.

True, but you also can't debate that a lineup with Knight, Dudley, and Middleton is far superior when it comes to shooting. Giannis might have to be our center next year. I really don't see a scenario that him and Jabari work together unless one of them becomes a 3pt shooter.
I don't know the solution, but our best two players are a bad fit unless they develop different skillsets.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 49 hours)
I care about offensive efficiency overall, which is negatively impacted by turnovers and bad halfcourt decisions, over how well we shoot from 3. We are 8th in TS this year but 17th overall, and that's primarily because of poor decision making in transition and the halfcourt. That would not be there with Lawson.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 49 hours)
No to Isaiah Thomas. The guy can score his ass off especially for a 5'9 guy but is just another ball dominator looking to score at all times. We don't want that on this team. We already have two of those who at least fit the culture. Why add another guy like that when two is already too many?

I know that WeekpaugGroove is always at the ready to negotiate hard for his Suns, but I think Phoenix would take Ersan (or Mayo) and the Clips 1st for those two guys.
We of course would need to figure out how IT would fit in here. If you are someone who advocates not re-signing Brandon Knight, then IT can solve that 3rd guard issue for only 3/$24 remaining versus say 4/$50 for Knight.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 49 hours)
Kennedy spoke on BR about Milwaukee having interest in making a deal with Minnesota for Pekovic. Maybe give them Zaza (2yr @ $5.2m) and Ilyasova (3yr @ $7.9m) and a future 2nd rd pick? I don't view Pachulia as someone who needs to be around for the rest of his contract, and certainly Pek would be more valuable to this team. Say what you want about Pek's contract, but this would shore up the C position for the near future (3 years remaining after this season). What do you think it would it take for Pek to become a Buck?

Not sure if anyone pointed this out, Gutti is now a free agent, so that continues to cloud things for us. I am sure Kidd wants to keep him so there has to be a trade in the works, or he's hoping Larry is gone.

I like Pekovic. Not sure what it'd take but I think he'd be an upgrade on our current crop of Cs and would help us this year. Would like to net another young piece in any deal with MIN cause Pek is 29.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 49 hours)
Pekovic + Anthony Bennett for OJ + Ersan works financially. Bennett's been terrible but it might be worth rolling the dice considering he's still only 21.
Edit: Not sure why MIN would do that deal as they're re-building, we may need to toss in a 2nd or something.

Good point. That 10-day deal is up. Somehow, someway this team will need another guard for the last 30 games. Whether it is Jorge or someone we acquire in the next 48-hours.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 49 hours)
On a lesser note for trades. Can we just do Jeff Adrian for JOB3? We could sure use the rebounding. I mean I prefer 100s of other trades but at a minimum, I'd take this one.
