If crawford were closer to the same mold as redick yeah i might go with it, but they seem to be polar opposites in style and efficiency. Do you feel jj's effect on the starting lineup isn't championship effective? Personally i don't see how trading JJ away can fix more problems than what we lose offensively. Like, he's not enough of a star that he can net the myriad defensive assets to fix our personnel on that side. And I don't see how we're gonna get better offensively by trading him either.
Also, considering doc just keeps adding wings through draft/FA why do you think he will all of a sudden change his mind and go for balance?
Redick is a perfect fit for what we want to do offensively. I originally thought Crawford made the most sense to deal, but seeing how bad our bench can be without another shot creator, the fact that Redick does not ever play with the bench and his contract eats up valuable 2016 cap space, made me (slightly) change my mind.
I dont think any trade this year puts us over the top. I think Afflalo improves our defense somewhat, plus his eFG% out of catch and shoot situations is 53% compared to Redick's 57.9%. That should improve with the added spacing around Griffin and Paul. I think Afflalo can bring some of what Redick does, running off screens, secondary ball handler, spot up shooter, with some additional defense while also improving our books for the summer of 2016.
I also think Afflalo can play more effectively with the second unit than Redick can. A Rivers, Crawford and Afflalo reserve unit sounds much better than anything we trot out now, especially considering Redick hardly plays with the reserves.
The question is how much do we have to give up? Redick and Wilcox (buried on bench, not playing this year) would be a solid deal, but not sure that peaks Denver's interest. Anything more than that, I would have to see the offer to digest it.
