Ugggg. I work for a non-profit that literally does this exact stuff (provide paid summer positions to high schoolers and college kids, with mentoring and career preparation) and it kills me to know money like that was out there and my company missed it.

Kudos to you....a lot of people who work in non-profit dont feel the engagement you feel.
Keep up the good work.
For love, not money.

at the same time, is the non-profit that actually got the money doing inferior work? otherwise what difference does it make who gets it?
God help Ukraine

Agree, dice. I wasnt questioning where the money went and if it was put to good use or not.
I am just happy that Al felt passionate enough to feel pissed about losing out on potential grant/funding money. Thats always a good sign that you care about your job.
Folks in non-profits get jaded super fast. At least thats been my experience.
For love, not money.

Seriously, Magic has been just as amazing once his career has ended on the basketball as he was as a basketball player. In terms of his business savvy and charity work, it's been just a hall-of-fame caliber. He has truly had an amazingly well rounded life, even with all the trials he had with his health.
Kudos to Magic, you're a good man.
