Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 31 hours)
The difference between the picks could be 14 spots or 3. There is a gamble in that regard. So we clear out Ersan's salary, but will immediately have to use it on Kanter, while resigning Middleton and Knight (not what we want, I know, but what will happen). Is there enough money to go around and what does Kanter get? He will be an RFA for us? I don't really like Hammond dealing for players who will be RFAs if we plan on extending them. Having 3 RFAs is a volatile situation, and ripe for a team to screw us with an offer.

Middleton is more talented than Kanter. Kanter just shoots a lot. .535 TS for a big is pretty poor. That doesn't even factor in his defense, which Middleton is strong at.

Houston looking less and less likely at getting Dragic..
Is Henson not yet considered a core guy? I'm not understanding giving up a 1st for Kanter. Kanter sucks defensively.

I have no problem with that rumored deal. Ersan has been inconsistent/hurt forever and the player we pick mid round (or clippers pick) will not be better than Kanter. The only issue is paying Kanter. We need a big body, hopefully defense will develop. Open arms for a former #3 pick at that cost.
Go Bucks!

If it's the Clippers pick then I'd be okay with it. Any other 1st and that's a terrible deal.

I'll pass then. Kanter is a middling efficiency, poor defending, poor passing big.
He is also a former top 3 pick, with legit NBA C size, the ability to play some minutes at the PF, good athleticism and is 22 giving him a chance to grow perfectly with our core.
Let's not pretend it is all downside here, but it isn't. I don't know Corbin as a coach, but one thing is certain, if he was Larry Drew type bad, there is a lot of talent that Kidd and Co. can squeeze from their players yet.
Also, why do we assume that he will refuse to fit into the system here? Just saying, it's not all gloom and doom, especially if we aren't giving up this years first (so we can add Grant!)

The problem facing the Bucks is that it is unlikely that the Bucks can sign both Knight and Middleton, it would be nice to trade one of them now and get something rather than getting nothing.

Honest question, what is the difference between Kanter and Drew Gooden? Efficient black holes on offense and terrible defenders. Honestly I haven't seen a lot of him, so I'm just wondering.

I agree, but the Jazz will lose Kanter for nothing otherwise. I think they could find a better deal then Ersan and the Clippers 1st but don't act like you can keep this 'superior' player. You either trade him now or lose him for nothing.
They can keep him. If someone offers him a contract that means we can match. He can still be our 3rd big and get 30 minutes per game. He may not be 100% happy, but I'm sure the staff can explain to him the only way to make his situation better is to ball. The cap is going to expand and whatever contract he gets ( I honestly don't see anyone offering over 12/per year) could look very good in 2 years.
*Of course I'd rather not do that, but hey, it's a very plausible option* As much as I hate Kanter, he has improved a lot on defense this year. He is very capable of defending his own man, he just struggles on help defense, which is teachable. If the Jazz match on him and bring him off the bench, he will absolutely eat up opposing team's bench bigs and put up some serious stats and really help his trade value.

why the outrage over sending out our #1 pick in a trade vs. the Clips 2017 #1. They are most likely going to be about the same pick.

Where guys were picked means nothing when you've had 3 years of NBA play to evaluate them on. Whether Kanter was the #1 overall pick or the 60th shouldn't make a single difference when it comes to evaluating him as a player.

Kanter had a +20/+20 game against Milwaukee and Jason Kohl fell in love w/ him.

Time value of money (picks) and the fact that that Clips pick could feasibly end up a couple 2nds given what Doc has done with that team.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 31 hours)
I don't really get the point of trading for a UFA unless you aren't giving up anything you care about. Like, the most I would offer is Ersan and a 2nd. They can take it or leave it. It's not like Kanter is going to get a deal that demands bird rights in the offseason and I think we'd have enough cap to sign him if he really wants to be here.
I understand trading for a UFA if you need their bird rights to keep them around going forward. Then there is the obvious need factor for a team, but I think we are fine this year without Kanter. It's not like Kanter helps more than Henson and Zaza at this point because Henson is a better defender and Zaza a better passer.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 31 hours)
Funny how this board always wants youth, and now a deal to trade one of our old players (Ersan is probably 30 something), and a mid first rounder (which may be next year or the year after, who knows), is suddenly a terrible move, and people that have watched him a handful of times are comparing him to Drew Gooden on defense, Al Jefferson on offense, and apparently he has no upside to ever improve because he is a finished product at 22. Oh and by the way fits an absolute immediate need as a physical rebounder and inside scorer, but yeah, terrible deal.
Get him in now and at least you get almost a half season to gauge whether he fits here or not before you have to make any decisions on him. I mean we are talking about getting rid of Ersan, not Parker, Middleton or Giannis in this scenario.

Kanter is a RFA. Multiple teams have interest in him (probably not a ton, but enough to create a competitive market for his services). Having bird rights ensures another team can't swoop in and give him a 500K more offer and more attractive location.
You think Kanter is going to sign with the Bucks or the Celtics/Lakers/Knicks if they offer the same money?

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 31 hours)
If we are sending out our won 2015 1st round pick it should be for McGary not Kanter. I think Kanter is most effective if you use him like early Blake Griffin

Little dubious of the source linking Ersan for Kanter. But always fun to speculate.
