Unless G_P actually states a team or a scenario then I believe he was just being cryptic for the benefit of a left field Middleton trade cementing him as an 'insider'. He hasn't given us anything about Middleton. Right now he is just hitched to Henson/1st for Kanter.

I just want to say to you that you're a fan of an incredibly odd assortment of teams, according to your profile. :)

Bucks/Cubs/Bucs/Stoke/Syracuse? How did that come about?

Kidd is calling the shots, not hambone.

You work for the bucks and know this for sure? It was reported that Hammond is highly respected around the league and why they decided to keep him on.
Bucks fan since day one. Go Bucks!

I think Kidd has earned our trust. People this summer were saying the same crap about Jerryd Bayless and he's been a gem for the money. This ship is succeeding or sinking based on Jason Kidd. I'm ok with that.

And this is the first trade deadline in a long time where we are talking about bringing in guys to make the team better over the long haul and not wishing for needed tank trades. I'm enjoying the new era.

This is where I'm at as well! I absolutely hated the Bayless and Dudley signings. BOY WAS I WRONG! Based solely on those guys, I'm more than willing to trust him!

You are getting too worried about this Kanter thing.

For the Bucks to be a true contender, they still need to clean the clock of some team in a trade. Acquire a young guy with potential who then develops into an all-star on the Bucks, ala what the Suns did last year with Eric Bledsoe.

Is Kanter going to do that? Probably not, but he's got the potential to do it. So I'm fine if he's the best option to roll the dice on, because we need have a move like this hit to make the leap as a team.

Middleton has higher upside than Kanter

Kanter is a blackhole offensively and can't defend, you can hope a guy can learn and overcome one of those issues and cover it up if you have to but both? Nah. The guy isn't very smart, he isn't very coachable, he is empty stats and will destroy this team. Giving up Middleton for him would be one of the worst trades of all time.

I'm struggling to understand why anyone would think this, as well.

Isn't Middleton a restricted free agent next year? The Bucks will match any offer Middleton receives? If the Bucks truly value Knight and someone offers him close to max and they decide to match, still think they would match any offer for Middleton?

Now if I am wrong and Middleton is not a restricted free agent next year.....never mind. :D

What does Morway do?

What does Babcock do?

I can see their titles, but that doesn't mean much compared to their real-world functions.

Trade 2: Mayo and Ersan and maybe pick or 2 to SIxers for Jason Richardson and Krilenko Expirings.

We get PG and half-decent C and then just dump RIchardson and Krilenko.
Start next year with a bunch of cash and go out and spend it.

So you are trying to get funding for a new arena, just starting to get some of the fan base a little interested and at least coming back to games on the weekend and you would like to pick up garbage and start over again next year....hmmmmmm don't see that happening.

I don't see it as starting over with Lawson, Middleton?, Giannis Parker, and I guess Mcgee. Then you still have a Duds, Bayless, Henson, zaza, Marshall? Inglis. Then go out and sign some young good players. We still have our core and just build on it. Clearing space is what we need to do. Ersan and OJ are not our long term solution and if you think Knight is, well there it is.

With tv ratings up 350% and attendance way up I don't think we'll see any of our core young guys traded including Knight and Middleton.

Stop it. We aren't trading Middleton for Kanter. That rumor doesn't even exist. Henson/1st. Middleton is NOT linked to Kanter.

I've been texting with a buddy about possible trade scenarios and each time that I typed "Kanter" it auto-corrected to "Lantern".

So, if we do trade for him, at least he comes with a cool nick name...

I pray Kidd is smart enough to know not to f*ck with the chemistry like that.

Kidd created the chemistry this team has, didn't he? So why would you doubt he knows what he is doing at this point?
This is what I am thinking as well. Do people really think we have a contending team? I don't. Improved yes, but not that close to a contending team. I am all for any move that pushes us closer.

This isn't a very good mode of thinking though. Sign and trades are fairly prevalent in the NBA and being RFAs, the Bucks would have a lot of control over picking up assets for Kanter/Jackson/whatever other RFA in the offseason.

Bucks: loved Ray Allen and TJ Ford was my favorite college player so I got hooked on them.

Cubs: family in Chicago

Tampa: work friend of my dad's gave me a collection of autographed Bucs cards when I was young and I got hooked

Syracuse: alma mater

Stoke: I like to be different and chose them as my team in my FIFA Career so I've just naturally gotten to know the team and become a fan.

Your even keel is always appreciated PP. I too have faith that LED + KIDD + MORWAY + HAMMOND will make good moves. Worth considering that they've invested a lot in stats analysis and scouting, more than anything we saw in the Kohl era, and are working from a broader set of info to make these sorts of decisions. Also, if the $13m buyout turns out to be true it'd represent another surprising example of how these dudes have their biz together.

I agree with Jay. Why do we have to roll the dice right now? I want to sit tight with most of our roster and see how they grow during a playoff run. The main players getting minutes are so incredibly young and are still improving.

Honestly, if Kanter or Reggie come here the game threads will be full of frustration.

Even folks who aren't completely sold on Knight's role with the Bucks should remember that point. That was a home-run trade for the Bucks.

Kidd is not looking at the ratings. He is looking for players who can take us too the next level.
