His free throw shooting plummeted from 69% his first six years in the league to 39% his last two years.
He was never a good shooter - his game was based on dives, backcuts on the baseline, and other ways to get shots going to the basket. He had a decent free throw rate, getting to the line 3.6/36min in his first six years. Last two years he gets there 1.5/36min because he's scared of shooting them. As a result of being scared to shoot FTs, he doesn't drive (he used to take around half his shots at the rim, now he takes 1/4) and since he can't shoot , he's worthless on offense.
If Brewer can ever figure it out mentally, he's still a young guy and a smart defender, he'll be useful somewhere. It's sad to see a good guy lose his prime years in the NBA because of mental problems.
He should get a shooting coach. its worked before
