Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 27 hours)
Get Ersan out of here.
Middleton has reached untouchable status with me on the level of Giannis and Jabari. Unless someone is sending us back a star, I want Middleton. This guy has really developed into a great player both defensively and offensively. If someone could teach him how to finish consistently off of the dribble he would be a star himself. This guy should get paid, and it should be by the Bucks.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 27 hours)
The other HUGE aspect in the case of Middleton is not only is he a RFA, but he doesn't have the option of signing a QO this summer to cash in on the exploding cap. The Bucks could conceivably lock him up for 5/$45, whereas if he was a free agent a year later he might command double that.
Middleton is one of those pieces that contending teams need to find and hold onto: players who can provide production that far outweighs their contract.

For the national guys who dismiss his value, this board understands what is going on with him.
Part of that is the team defense and effect of length, but he's certainly capitalized. Giannis is helping everyone get more steals lately between Henson, Knight & Middleton.

I'm referencing the overall FTD team comparison. There is zero comparison between the teams is my point. Also, nobody wants a post FTD type offseason either, at least I haven't seen it. I just don't understand bringing up FTD. This is a completely young team right now. One starter is over 24 and that starter might be off the books in 29 games.

i think exum is total fools gold. darko/vesely euro trash sucker draft bomb. i studied the kids hs games last summer and now watched him some this year. hes a nothing player. dealing for whatever his "upside" is with middleton would be terrible mistake imo.
then add that i wouldn't trade Henson for kanter straight up AND were the ones tossing in a #1 and this trade sucks balls for me. i hate it.
That "euro trash sucker draft bomb" was burying 3s in Knight's face weeks ago and that's his weakness coming into the league this year. Try again.
yeah.. he had a good fiba game that one time too. how about looking at his 3 pt% on the season? that's the one thing hes done that hasn't COMPLETELY sucked... just mostly sucked. except for that one game against us

so yeah.. try again.

I'd advise becoming a fan of another team, then. Even with assumed good management coming from Lasry and Edens, you're never going to see a contender in the next decade if you don't think that's going to get it done (plus a complementary piece trade or a shrewd move like getting our Zach Randolph as PP mentioned).

I like how you put the part about adding another guy like Zach Randolph as if it is a side note.

The all-star 4s are a simple side note. There are maybe 8 people in the league capable of doing what Zach Randolph does and all of them are untouchable.

Yeah, my point is that nobody is going to give away Exum in his rookie year and we won't draft top 5. We need a shrewd, undervalued move to add another piece. I'm not against trading for very far away/raw players at this point, but I'm saying that it might be counterproductive to count on that as the only way to take the next step.

I'm not comparing the teams. I'm comparing the impact that it has had on the fan base.
After the FTD year people assumed we were ready to make the jump. They thought Jennings was going to be a stud, they thought Bogut would come back from injury and be good... they thought we were going to be a 50+ win team. I know, you were one of those people... we argued for a super long time about Corey Maggette during that offseason.
The impact now is similar. I think this team has a much better chance to be successful. I don't get how someone saying they really like Middleton and want to keep him... but they'd trade him for a huge 19 year old PG who came out with a massive upside is wrong.

Yes, PP mentioned about 40 pages back that Kanter or somebody of that ilk could be the risky trade of a young guy with talent that grows into being a stud (i.e. our Zach Randolph transaction BEFORE he became what he is now). Of course I know that Zach Randolph or any player of his current status are not going to be just gifted to the Bucks.
My point is that we are done drafting in the lottery. While I'm all for drafting raw players and trading for some, we are now beyond the 2012 days where we were literally hoping our entire roster would have a nuclear bomb placed into it and we'd take on every young player we can get.

Who is talking about tanking or drafting in the lottery? Where is this part of your post coming from?

It seems people are comparing where Exum is right now and where Middleton is right now, and their respective upside. Exum right now + massive upside compared to Middleton right now + smaller upside. If Middleton learns to take someone off the dribble, then watch out.

Re: Trade Targets (Trade Deadline less than 27 hours)
I'm saying the impact is different because of the ages of the players. The FTD team had a ceiling to it, while if this team wins 46, the same amount as the FTD team, it's a different vibe because a majority of the roster is on its upward trajectory. That was not the case with FTD, especially factoring in the Bogut injury, and then how we spent our FA money.
Either way, you are either in or out at this point. Our core is pretty much locked in in terms of drafted players. There may be trades for other youth, but in those cases, something has to be removed from our side as well. Exum type trades are pipedreams though, it would be like us saying, "screw it, lets trade Jabari".
From here we need to make sure we use our cap wisely, continue to draft talent above it's draft slot like we have, and keep our eye out for trades. I have completely ruled out drafting another all-star ceiling guy, and I've essentially ruled out trading for a young one as well.

Signing Knight and getting guys like Jackson and Kanter would be the youth version of the post FTD **** up.

I realize that not everyone was reading this entire thread to understand the reference I made to what PP said, but "adding prime Randolph" is about a million miles away from what I said.
Unless you considered Randolph when he was traded to Memphis as "prime" Randolph. He was near his prime age, but he was viewed as a complete black hole that was being incredibly overpaid. Now that is not the case.

I have a hard time believing Jason Kidd is running this trade deadline from a golf course in Cabo.

Bucks could have done it easily like 6 years ago, but Kohl decided he didn't want to get Zbo for **** contracts.
