I've got no love for Henson. He's been playing incrementally better, but he's still super soft & seems like another guy that would completely check out after getting paid.

"Right now, anything we're looking at today is still, hopefully, going to be focused on maybe acquiring a piece or talking about adding pieces that can be future, long-term player for this organization," Hammond said.

"We appreciate where we're at today. As I said, overachieving, the talk about this team being a playoff team is such a great story in itself, but as I said, we're still focusing in the future and moving forward long-term and that's becoming a championship-caliber team."

This is a key distinction for Bucks fans to understand.

The other important detail to understand is that to get that "long-term" player, this team isn't going to trade away valuable first round draft picks (as to what their definition of valuable is, though, we're not sure) Giannis Antetokounmpo or Jabari Parker.

After that, it's safe to say all bets are off.

And that includes Brandon Knight, whom the team did not extend by the October deadline for restricted free agents.

That includes John Henson, a third-year 24-year-old forward who is a serviceable rotation big, but hasn't developed into a front-line starter.

There will be no John Salmons, no Monta Ellis, no J.J. Redick.

(If anything, the Bucks would love to "reverse" the Redick deal and send a veteran away for a team-controlled second-year player.)
Shoot, Move, and Communicate...

Feels like Kanter is the guy they really want. What would be the right package to give up for him?

Nobody is thinking about trading him. No chance we'd get what he is worth in return. We discussed him being our 'Jimmy Butler' quite a few pages back. All of his numbers at age 23 are superior to Jimmy's numbers when he was 23.

There are a lot of posts in this thread suggesting the Bucks trade him, and looking at the trade forum quickly, I saw these 2 viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1373014#start_here
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1373212#start_here

While I obviously would not look to trade Middleton, any Jimmy Butler or Klay Thompson comps are irrelevant. The percentage of players who develop as much as they have is tiny. Middleton is Middleton.

 Of course other teams want to trade for him and would create threads and discuss it. Middleton isn't some project. He is a LEGIT NBA starter right now. Statistically he is one of the best wing defenders RIGHT NOW in the league. He is also one of the best shooters and he moves the ball. You are right...Middleton is Middleton. And that is one heck of a player.

LOL, that was pretty much exactly my point - 6th in RPM and 16th in WAR now.

Interesting and exciting that the article mentioned Knight as being movable. Hopefully that is more than just guessing by the writer.

Little off topic, but that "inside look" at the Bucks' war room during last year's draft day that they run on FSN, where Hammond wanted to give up a couple 2nds and cash to move up to #24, who do we all think he was targeting? I think I read where someone said Ingles. But originally I thought it was McGary. Anyone have insight here?

The only trade I really want made is just to clear some cap, ie Ersan. Would love Knight moved but I doubt it happens unless some team throws 3 1st round picks at Hammond or something crazy.

same here, just not sure if I should be happy or worried that Middleton isn't mentioned as being on either side

It kind of seems like all the teams this year are stubborn with all of their offers. Before it was like a fire-dumpster sale at the deadline and now it is trench warfare. Expect little at the deadline I guess.

McGary

Perkins/McGary for Henson/Ers and Clips 1st

Very exciting to see that onmilwaukee article. Such a drastic change from the old way of thinking. I predict at least one trade happens today. There has to be with it being the New owners first deadline.

McGary is going nowhere unless they have a drastic change of heart.

He's the next decade Nick Collison for them.

Is the LAC pick "valuable" in this definition? That might be intentionally vague from the team in this interview.

I would be really mad if Middleton got traded. He seems like a perfect fit in Milwaukee alongside Giannis and Parker. Henson and Ersan can GTFO though.
