WOJ Bomb #2: Jack potentially to Wizards

[tweet]https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/568465170701426688[/tweet]

So basically it's like a 4 or 5 team deal:

Wizards get: Sessions and Jack
Kings get: Miller
T'Wolves get: Garnett
Nets get: Young (from the KG trade), Perkins Jackson, and Perry Jones
OKC gets: Lopez
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

$6.3 million next season, $500K guaranteed in Summer of 2016 if he's cut before June 30.

around 5 but not sure. But jack I really love and think is underrated as hell. For me he's the perfect backup. Not sure what his price is but I love him defensively. Ever since he shut down arenas that game arenas was going to go for 50 for team usa snub ( Ooh memories
) that's a good price for him. 5 Mill. For me he's perfect

Raffy's right - per shamsports.com. Only 500K of the 2016-17 season is guaranteed. Jack >>> Sessions.

I didn't realize his 2016/17 salary has a cheap buyout. That changes everything. If this is true, I wholeheartedly endorse the idea of going after Jack.

This is bad news for the Raptors if our teams meet in the playoffs. Jack is a notorious Raptor killer.

Jack would make less than Webster and Blair combined next season, and Jack's contract runs the same amount of years as Webster but Ted only has to pay him $500K to go away while Webster is due for at least $2.5 million.

It improves the bench short term, and it also gives Ernie cost certainty. I think teams are going to go crazy this offseason, with the Wizards, at least Ernie knows he has 90% of his roster set up.

Edit: And there's still the question of whether or not Pierce opts in. I've got them pegged at roughly $71.4 mil next season if all these salaries come in. But cut out $5.4, and they're right at the cap mark.

All of a sudden a lot of flexibility at the guard spots with Wall, Beal, Jack and Sessions, assuming Sessions doesn't get moved in the possible OKC/BKN deal

Jack would certainly be an upgrade but I was surprised to see that he's only shooting 25% from 3 point range. That's pretty far off his contract year number with the Warriors when he shot 40% from 3 point range.

Given the uncertainty around how Sessions will perform, I think it'd be worthwhile to get a guy like Jack as well for insurance purposes. Depends on who they're giving up, of course.

Is there any information on the configuration of this deal? Are you saying that we are somehow trading Webster and Blair for Jack? Is EG using the Jedi Mind Trick on someone?

That would be awesome if true. Jack is legit. Wall, Beal and Jack should handle all of the guard minutes with no need for anyone else except garbage time minutes from Temple. That means Porter and Butler can play exclusively at SF and hopefully free up a few extra minutes for Pierce to slide over to PF.

I sincerely hope that the plan all along was to give Pierce some PF minutes but they were just waiting until the second half of the season to keep Pierce fresh (and to make sure Porter was ready for important minutes). They can't be ignorant of how well it worked for Brooklyn last year, and how well a similar move in Milwaukee (with Jared Dudley playing the 4) is working in Milwaukee.

Basically, if all goes well, we will have Jarrett Jack taking all the minutes from Temple and Seraphin. Now THAT'S an upgrade.

It gives KG a chance to end with a feel good story - ending his career in Minnesota. Flip is probably ecstatic to have him back, and it'll give their fans a reason to watch - to pay tribute to their all-time best player. And maybe KG can teach their younger players. Otoh, if he wanted one last playoff run, forget it.

If Webster is included in the deal, this could be a great trade by EG.
