Possible buyouts and fit for Bulls

Post#1 » by Mech Engineer » Thu Feb 19, 2015 6:33 pm

There are a lot of possible buyouts which might happen in the next few days to weeks. We all know the Bulls are looking for another backup wing. If they don't make a trade, it would be interesting who could fit the Bulls.

1. Chase Budinger - 3 pt shooter, had knee issues, not sure of defense

2. Thornton - chucker, undersized for a SF

3. Martin - good 3 pt shooter, bad defense but doubtful of being bought out.

4. Prince - old, slow but long, experienced and a savvy vet, can shoot the 3

There might be a few more players who might be bought out.

Edit....

5. Gary Neal - playoff experience, 3 pt shooter but keeps getting traded from even bad teams

Just find whatever former bulls is really bad, but fits the system and that's our guy.

Agree. I was just thinking they might be looking for insurance/backup at SF more than getting a guard.

A real shame NOP lacks wing depth, we could probably get John Salmons from them otherwise.

Martin is the ideal buyout targets of all buyout targets, but it doesn't seem likely that it happens #1, and #2 that he signs here for the minimum.

Garnett was the other guy I thought about, but he's probably going to be traded to Minnesota.

Prince might as well be Ronnie Brewer-- not much of an improvement.

I'd take Thornton but he probably doesn't see the light of day off the bench.

None of those guys woo me. Chase would ride the pine even harder than McDermott -- which is saying a lot. Can't help but think of Afflalo and how good of a fit he is on Portland. I know the salary match makes it difficult -- but man I wish we got Affalo.

Neal is another possibility. He looks bad this year, but he contributed in SA and Charlote as a 3&D player

Good call on Neal. I forgot about him. He'd be near the top of my list after Martin. He's a decent enough shooter and defender, and he played for Pop.

Can you expand on that? Is it on-court like ball hogging or fighting with coaches, teammates?

Doesn't seem like we're interested in Neal and not sure that there's much playing time for him. I think Clippers are the front runner for Prince but I'd take him if they don't sign him.

Thornton and Budinger would both be nice pickups too, but they're kind of marginal rotation players and I'm not sure Thibs would play either

Glad I mentioned Salmons earlier. Since he was traded to the Suns, do you guys think they'll buy him out so we can jump on that ?

On the general board someone said Prince was being sent (back) to Detroit for Jerebko and Datome, so not sure that he's going to be available.

Ditto Thornton - not sure that he's actually a buy-out candidate any more.

Shawne Williams would fit, though. Although if I were the Pelicans I'd keep him, too. They aren't particularly good at the 3 spot.
