Surely, if Phoenix accepted Thornton plus the Cleveland 2016 pick, they would have taken Miller + Blair/Gooden and our 2016 1st. Better yet, since Phoenix was obviously willing to part with Plumlee, we could have included a Seraphin for Plumlee swap. Miller + Seraphin for Thomas + Plumlee would have been beautiful. It gets us younger, quicker, and better while addressing the roster holes that would have formed next year.
Blair is a value contract. I am glad they didn't trade the 1st round pick.
Do you think EG is capable of drafting a player in the mid 1st round who will be BETTER than Isaiah Thomas is now?
He whiffs on lottery picks.
I'm all for trading our picks for proven players as long as EG is drafting
The Wizards are acquiring a lot of players I posted about years ago. Maybe by 2016, they'll swap Ernie Grunfeld for Troy Weaver.
Let's say Ted creates a new job for Ernie and they have a new GM. It would be great to have a pick to work with.
I like Isaiah Thomas a lot, but he was a #60 pick and now he's no longer on a rookie deal. No way do I want to give up a mid first for him. Thomas at best would be Wall's backup. A mid first could be a bust or a steal, but either way it's a rookie contract.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Had to post that line even though I'm pretty neutral on what did and did not take place.
Thanks - I needed a laugh on this lousy day.
And yes, OKC's chances of re-signing Durant look better than ever. They made moves showing they want to improve, while the Wiz got pretty much Jack Squat.
I was very surprised by the volume of trades today. I didn't think there was any way Phoenix would trade Thomas. Why would they prefer to have Brandon Knight - and probably have to give him a 50 mil contract in the offseason - rather than have Thomas at the really good rate they just signed him to? Again, Phoenix just baffled me today several times.

Today is as baffling (and the case of Jerome Kersey, tragic) as I can recall.
Dizzying amount of deals. Some teams I can tell REALLY screwed up. Washington's not in that group.
Other teams hit it out of the park. You mention OKC. Hard not to like what they're working with now.
Phoenix sending away Plumlee and Thomas was perplexing. They got about a gazillion picks in return and I guess they're strategically tanking.

Kersey was such a fun player to watch. What a phenominal athlete he was back in the day - on those Clyde Drexler Trailblazer teams. He and Clyde would take turns making spectacular dunks - Clyde with the finesse and Jerome with the thunder. Jeesh, he was 2 years younger than me.

Wish we had come out with Jack. But we got jack-sh**. I just had to say that.
Seriously though, we got a quicker player in Sessions...quicker than the player he replaces. That means we can push the ball up more. I wish we could have done more in terms of trades.
Oh well...onward and upward.

Man, I used to LOVE that Trailblazers team from the late 80s/early 90s. Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, Buc Williams, Kevin Duckworth (before he was traded to the Bullets and sucked,) Cliff Robinson. They were the team I rooted for when the Bullets inevitably faded from contention.
Jerome Kersey was a good guy both personally and in the community. He put the team above individual accolades. Man, 52 is not that old. Glad you got a title with San Antonio Jerome.
