I actually think the FO did a wonderful job not biting on these trades and taking on future salary for players that simply aren't that good to begin with. If anything it reassures me that Jim won't be pressured by his own deadline to do anything desperate.

I'm cool with the way the deadline worked out. We have to think about the pick. We can revisit wveryone else in FA.

Same here, I agree I'm glad we didn't just make a deal to make, completely unreasonable to do. The front office isn't perfect, but dammit we gotta have patience, once that's thrown out the window, logic tends follow right behind. Let's calm down and remember our gameplan, **** what could've should've would've, remember the game plan. did we lose ANYTHING by sticking to it? I think NOT. To think otherwise, I need facts NOT opinions, facts facts facts.
2014: Randle / Clarkson
2015: Russell / Nance
2016: Ingram / Zubac
2017: Top 3 Pick? Fultz, Ball or Bust

This FO is one screw up away from losing just about all of us. And they know it. So they are extra-cautious.

Sad that you look at a clearly media-manipulated version of reality mean someone is a visionary. But cool, dude.

For the record, I completely agree with the Lakers' inactivity this year.

With that being said, there's a very fine line between inactivity and, as you say, being "extra-cautious".

This front office has demonstrated a severe lack of creativity over the years. However, being in a position to draft very high in this year's draft and all other things considered, I believe the Lakers did absolutely the right thing.

Not too sure what you're saying at the end there. Feel free to clarify.

did you see what Det gave up for Jackson? Not exactly a "kings ransom" that's for sure, only thing we couldn't have was the Augustine part, but he's a terrible backup anyways, he only puts up stats when he starts. But our 2nd is much better than Det and Wes is comparable to Singler who isn't good for much anything but 3's I suppose.

Not a king's ransom but still, as you mentioned had parts that we couldnt match. Augustin is the main part of the deal was not a throw in. Thunder was not dumping Reggie Jackson as trash and wanted something in return. Augustin gives them a solid backuo who can step in to start and a reasonable contract that expires at the same time as kd. What did we have to trump that? We cant just say we have something similar dump detroit When we reallg dont.

Fact is we dont have assets.BS should have done a better job of building up Lin or even Young And Hill. But no, he had to criticize the hell out of them. Who would want them?

Lol what? OKC got the best player in the deal Kanter. You really think they give a flying f*ck about Augustin? Augustin was a throw in, a solid player but still a throw in. I don't buy that they wouldn't have done the trade without him. Don't put the blame on BS, put the blame on the inactive front office. D'antoni showcased the **** out of our roster last year and the front office didn't do jack ****. This mess we're in is because of management and we'll continue to be in this mess unless we get new management.

I'm not disagreeing. And yes Kanter was the prize. My point is, its not so easy to say that we can just offer the same thing and the Thunder and the Jazz would have let us in on the deal. Its a multi-team deal with multiple factors and even if Augustin isn't the prize, he still gives the Thunder depth and a replacement to Reggie Jackson. We cannot offer anything that will help anybody. Hell, being an Eastern team already gives Detroit the leg up on being brought in on the trade. So I won't crucify the front office for doing nothing because I'm not convinced that we could have done anything and I would also not have done anything that would have hurt the tank.

I do agree though that the FO has to step up. Last offseason was a mess and a wasted season. Although it turns out that whoever swung for Thomas and Stephenson missed, I would have hoped we went after Lowry or even Parsons. Saying we needed flexibility and then signing Nick Young for 4 years doesn't make sense to me. The time to be cautious has already passed. We need to be more active this year and take some risk. We definitely cannot have a repeat of last offseason and end up with this kind of roster.

Good job by Mitch and company.

There was no deal that made any sense at all to get Goran Dragic. If we believe he's a player that we want, we'll sign him in the off-season to a reasonable deal that makes sense. He is NOT worth anything close to $20M a season. No way.

It would have been nice to get a 1st round pick for Lin, Davis or Hill, but it's not the end of the world.

Tank away, lose both of those games to Philadelphia and we'll be in good shape.
