Re: Hornets Playoff Watch
If MKG doesn't stay healthy, we don't stand a chance. If he does, we're a lock unless some other disaster strikes. I still think we can hold off the rest of the pack, stay in 7th, and at least make a run at 6th with MKG, even if we're playing half of our remaining games without Kemba. This is going to be tough but we can get it done

Re: Hornets Playoff Watch
I think Piston fans are going to be massively disappointed in Jackson, and I think we stay in front of them. Only time will tell. Heat of course will pass us, and the Nets are well.. The Nets. I think we will be the 8 seed and face the mighty Hawks in the first round.

Must be nice to be Miami. Only five more B2B games (we have 9) and they have twelve games against opponents on the second night of the opponent's B2B (we only have five).

They also have the second easiest schedule in the league remaining. They may get on a roll and end up with the 5 or 6 seed.

Re: Hornets Playoff Watch
going to be tough, very interesting end to the season to say the least. I honestly dont think we make it but we have a fighting chance.
Miami is the definite 7 seed IMO, their starting lineup is very solid. its pretty much a tossup for the 8 seed though

We have 8 more losses than wins while ranking top 4 in points allowed on defense. We're reaping the full benefit of MKG's defense.
Our weakness is 3 pt shooting and offense. I don't see how our season hopes hinge on a guy who can't make a 3.

Welp. Cho ain't move the needle. It would be ultra sad if Boston and Indiana dethrone us. That should get somebody fired or some drastic offseason measures to bring in talent instead of this conservative sh*t. I'm gonna keep my hopes that we'll get in the playoffs but I'll also tell the truth that I'm not happy with our overall roster.

It could be a blessing in disguise if the Pacers, Celtics, Pistons and Nets pass us. We could really bomb without Kemba and then decide to protect against injury by shelving him. Then we could hoist minutes upon two guys who have no clue what's going on: Hairston at SG and Vonleh at PF.

Re: Hornets Playoff Watch
Well we're four games back from having the 6th pick in the draft, which also has a 21.5% chance of moving into the top-three.
Here's how I would rank the possible scenarios...
1. Make the playoffs and face any team not named the Cavaliers or the Hawks.
2. Make the playoffs and face the Hawks.
3. Miss the playoffs.
4. Make the playoffs and face the Cavaliers.
Two and three are close, but I think we might be able to sneak one game by Atlanta. As lame as it sounds, I think I'd be happy with back-to-back playoffs appearances and our first playoff win since 2002. But I also won't be bummed out if we missed the playoffs.

Re: Hornets Playoff Watch
One rival that might really benefit from the break is the Nets. They have a roster filled with injury prone players and/or older players. JJ was playing big minutes and getting burnt out. They also got younger shipping out Garnett for T. Young. We only have a 1 game separation with them and we created that 1 game separation with Kemba. The Nets should pass us.

Sucks for the Heat and very dangerous for Bosh, I hope he stays healthy. My dad had a scare with a pulmonary embolism not too long ago, those things are no joke.

I feel bad for Bosh ... and all the Heat fans who went from a super high after the trades yesterday to hearing about this.
But for the Hornets this does have important implications for their playoff aspirations. I do think that the Head barely miss the playoffs this year now, unless Wade can carry the team for a bit and Bosh makes it back in time for the playoffs. The Heat have far less incentive than most clubs to tank.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Re: Hornets Playoff Watch
If Wade is healthy the Heat should still make it. If Wade misses significant (7-10 games) time they're toast, it's as simple as that imo. Sucks for Bosh though, I always thought he got mocked way too much for no reason and when he finally gets the chance to prove the doubters wrong as the no.1 option on a good team he goes down with this. Really tough break.

Re: Hornets Playoff Watch
The Bosh news is sad. That Heat team really intrigued me. They could be really good next year if Whiteside continues to develop, Bosh comes back healthy, and they make some improvement to their bench.
If Bosh is out for the rest of the season I think we could get the 7 seed. If we are lucky enough to get Washington or Toronto we might have a fun first round. If we play Miami or Atlanta we're toast. I'd probably rather get into the lottery but if Biz and MKG are healthy I think Mo could be enough to keep us afloat until Kemba comes back.
