He's lucky they caught it in time. Could have died within days.

I'm surprised that this is a question though. Once a doctor figured out I might have it, I was diagnosed in less than 2 hours via CT scan. If they aren't sure with Bosh, it must be so minor that it isn't showing up on tests well.

Same thing I was thinking, with CT dye scans doctors can find out right away if need be so much advance testing and even blood test can tell and they should know by now

Wit that said i hope he is okay bosh is a good guy!

I'm a radiologist. A ct angio chest takes about five minutes to read. This is all posturing. There is no "possible pe" in both lungs.

Good luck Chris Bosh, one of my favorite non Bull players despite his flopping and presence on the Heat.

Sucks for Miami after trading for Dragic to basically lose this season with Bosh out.

As a medical student who just recently studied hematology, I've learned that blood clots in some one of Bosh's age are quite rare. Odds are, he likely has a genetic malfunction in one of his blood clotting enzymes, so he'll probably be undergoing a complete hypercoaguable work-up. His prognosis is actually quite good, and he'll get the proper treatment for this.

My bigger concern is whether or not he will be able to continue to play in the NBA. Treating an acute clot like this will require 3-6 months of anticoagulation - this is basically a drug that will thin Bosh's blood, in order to slowly break down the clot and to prevent additional clots from forming. If the etiology of this clot is genetic, then there may be a chance that he'll have to remain on an anticoagulation drug for the remainder of his life.

I'm not sure if he'd be able to continue to play in the NBA while being on a blood thinning medication. The physicality of the sport means that with any blow he takes to any part of the body, he risks internal bleeding (because the blood is already thinned). He'll be in my prayers tonight, and I hope he'll be able to continue his NBA career next season.

Yahoo reporting that Bosh's 2014-15 season is done.
