Really good player, great state of Michigan guy, but not what this team is looking for...IF Monroe comes back.
If Monroe leaves, all bets are off, and this becomes a viable option. But I think this team is better with Monroe than with Green. And IMO it's a choice between the two.

He could also become something like a prime Tayshaun Prince(still a 'good case' scenario). Which is nice, but $15 million? Yikes. While he played a PERFECT role for us, Prince isn't way we won a championship. You only pay the max for a player that is RESPONSIBLE for winning the championship, imo... I've found advanced stats that suggest D.J. Augustin was one of the best defensive PG's in the league after Jennings went down. Statistics can be twisted in an infinite amount of ways.
$15 million to take a chance on a new kind of superstar 'role player'? No, he's a glue guy. I might take a chance if he was 20 years old, but he's not.
Even if we were to give him 15 mil per. That will be like a 10mil per contract under the new TV deal the following year. I'm kinda thinking we need to go for it this summer and have our whole young core good contracts under the new CBA. Except Dre, he is our main piece and should be payed like it.
That 8 mil per stuff for quality players isn't happening now. These players and their agents now the cap is about to sky rocket. Look at Dragic expecting 20 mil per right now.
Still say it's dangerous as hell. I'm thinking a LOT of teams plan on doing this.... So what if we only sign a $6-$10 million contract this year with a younger 'role player' who has potential to get a lot better, potentially making the deal SICK in the future, and use the extra cap space to max Drummond + 1 more player? (by then, only true star players will deserve the gigantic new max contract)
If we can find a team to take Jennings from us(contract expires after next year and was playing incredible before he got injured, so there is a chance we could use him to trade up in the draft), how much cap space do we have this off-season?
