RealGM Radio Podcast about Detroit(Trade)

Post#1 » by Blkbrd671 » Sat Feb 21, 2015 11:58 pm

In this episode, host Daniel Leroux (@DannyLeroux) talks with Dan Feldman of Pro Basketball Talk and PistonPowered (@DanFeldmanNBA) about Detroit's season so far as well as their big move for Reggie Jackson at the deadline.

Since they talked right after the NBA trade deadline, the two also talk about all of the other big trades around the league, including choosing winners and losers and evaluating the necessity of pick protection.

Per the pod cast

Dinwiddie has shown nothing, not true
Kyle Singler is a nice player and Detroit didn't use him right
JL3 is a HUGE UPGRADE

That's not an effective player if they aren't good defenders.

Didn't think I had to argue that Kyle is an effective player.

I find it funny how so many people have been tricked into thinking Singler is a quality player. Sure, he had his moments but he was terrible on both ends of the floor on most nights.

Singler is a Coach's dream though

He works hard, he tries hard, he beats his man to the right spot, he makes the extra pass, has no ego, sacrifices for the betterment of the team etc

Coaches will take 10 Singlers over a bunch of Melo's every single day because it's not about winning games - its about building culture, building something bigger than oneself, execution, effort, sacrifice etc

Every Coach Singler has had loves him! There's good reason for that.

None of which translate to winning games :-)

Haha exactly. I guess those are the reasons why Singler was wanted by OKC, and probably other teams as well.
