Re: Poll: how do you grade our trade deadline?
At least B+ or an A
The FO just shaved off a ton of cap space, got 2 picks, added Granger to a already solid bench and pleasing Goodwin in process. Like Goodwin or not, he's one of the suns most valuable asset right now.
Dragic was going to walk either way after they inked Bledsoe so at least the suns got something out of it. Almost as good as the robbery the suns did to the lakers with nash.
With the cap space the suns could potentially sign Green to a long term deal this summer.

I would have been happier without the knight trade. Wish they would have just rolled with the young guys after moving Goran and IT. then figured it out this summer. Hell could have still went after knight as a rfa and put together a sign and trade that might have cost less.
With that said I'll keep an open mind with knight. He has his flaws but is young, very talented, very good 3pt shooter, and by all accounts a good character guy who works hard and gives good effort. I'm intrigued by his fit with Bledsoe and in this system. In reality there's pretty good odds he's a better player than who gets picked with the Lakers pick or ennis. If that does happen then it's a win. I just hate the thought that pick could end up really high next year.

A+++++++ because McD has yet to make a step wrong when it comes to bringing in players. Before you complain about the IT signing, we got him for peanuts and traded him for slightly better peanuts. Whenever McD has put an asset on the line, he's come out on top.
There's a reason he gets the big bucks and we don't. There's no point acting like we know more than him.

I think one of the things we are underrating is Gerald Green in all this. He'll likely get more consistent minutes probably in the high 20's. Some reason I feel we might regain our composure and fight the rest of the season. No more log jam at PG, no more fighting for who controls the ball. Let's see what happens.

Trade board is killing the Suns. Every poster including moderators of the board who are well informed posters with good knowledge of teams around the NBA all saying that Suns are biggest LOSERS from the trade deadline.

I'm not thrilled with the moves we made, especially the Knight trade. Dragics, given the situation, I can understand, I'm happy IT is gone because I didn;t like his game but it seems we got a bigger version of IT and paid for this privilege with the Lakers pick. Hmm, we'll see but C- now and if the Lakers pick ends up between 6 and 10 it's a big F.

Re: Poll: how do you grade our trade deadline?
I'd say probably a C. Dragic deal was decent considering the circumstances and getting a 1st + a decent sized expiring for IT was solid as well. not totally sold on the Knight deal but it was very unlikely we'd get the LAL pick this year and the FO is gambling on LA improving next year with Randle, their pick, and a FA

The thing reading that though is that most of the posts there are thinking mainly on the "now" and not the future. Yeah giving up the LA pick was probably not the best idea but we cleared alot of cap room and added more picks down the line. Yes we were in the 8th spot but OKC was always going to catch us.

Hey guys, youngest roster in the league. 24.3 age average after the waivings, even with Green and Granger who probably won't be around for long (and perhaps Tucker).
That's something to build on.
They are dumb.

Re: Poll: how do you grade our trade deadline?
As an outsider, I thought I'd give my perspective. Now I admittedly haven't seen much of the Suns so I could be off base about my assumptions. My view is that the Suns traded the best player to get moved yesterday and the best draft pick to get moved yesterday. In return I don't know if they got appreciably better in the near or long term. The Miami picks are lottery tickets but neither as good as the one they gave up to get Knight.
If Phoenix spends and adds a Wes Matthews in the offseason before reupping Knight then it makes more sense.
Just seemed like a bizarre collection of moves. On one hand they traded their best player (which they should have if he wasn't coming back) for picks in the distant future. On the other hand they traded the pick that would have provided the best hope for the future for a sooner player.

The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

Human nature for fans to spin things for your own team. We've all done it before to some extent. Most non-Suns fans in the forums would grade our day a D.
And there's no proving anyone right or wrong, even in the future. Everything can be spun any way via cherry picking.

I can't disagree. We were going to lose Goran, no doubt but I thought we gave up way more and go back way less than what we started with. That LA pick I'm especially pissed off about. I know it wasn't going to be ours this year but there's no way LA is out of the lottery next year. All we got back was some 1st rounders in 2284 and trash from the Heat. We gave up Goran for future 1sts (which are even less predictable than the LA pick we gave away) and a bunch of guys we're going to waive half. That is a terrible bloody package. I dunno how else you can flip that. I didn't mind so much we gave up Thomas but for Knight who has been a fairly average PG and we had to throw in our LA pick sucks. Not to mention Knight is a FA this offseason, so we're going to have to overpay someone regardless. Oh and I almost hate throwing away the LA pick as much as giving up Tyler Ennis.

Re: Poll: how do you grade our trade deadline?
I gave it a D. Dragic really screwed us by going public at the last second. So the Heat trade is whatever in my book. The other trade I thought were really bad. Thomas, Plumlee, Enni and Lakers pick for Knight, Thornton, and a late Cavs pick? No thanks. Then you add in that Knight can bolt this summer if he commands too much money or doesn't work out with Bledsoe in the backcourt. I just don't understand the moves. I like Knight butI thought the point of this all was to get a real 2 guard. He's still a combo guard.
I hadn't heard that Thomas was upset. Is that a rumor or is it confirmed?

Knight will be PG when Bledsoe goes to the bench. I'm really curious if Goodwin gets minutes or if we are going to give bigger minutes to Thornton

Everything I've read is that we are going to buy out Granger. Not sure how adding Knight, Thornton and maybe Granger pleases Goodwin?
And god no do not sign Green to a long term deal. And if we do it better not be for much. Despite him being fun and dangerous, he disrupts our offense A LOT by taking stupid shots. I'd rather let him walk and give Warren those minutes.

Giving up lakers pick is understandable.
But yah I was wondering why was Ennis included? Didn't seem necessary at all. Seemed like a last minute panic attack. Ennis woulda been great backup PG...
I understand the Suns backs were against the wall, but dragic was already dealt, so I don't think Suns were necessarily desperate to make another move.
Ennis was basically let go as just a trade "sweetner." He's much better than that imo

Re: Poll: how do you grade our trade deadline?
As of now; C+ (I actually like Brandon Knight, he's a better Point Guard than Bledsoe right now.....player? not yet)
Had we found a way to keep the Lakers pick; A-
But Miami's pick could impact things significantly. It's just so far away and we have way of knowing.
