Since this is the dream thread...

Assuming we are able to trade for Dragic, using Calderon and Timmy (I know it won't happen, Im dreaming here). Would that give us enough cap room to get Wes and Gasol?

C : Gasol
PF: Okafor
SF: Melo
SG: Wes
PG: Dragic

would be one hell of a starting lineup compared to what well throw out there against the Heat next game

Or replace Jahlil with Towns and Monroe for Millsap

I think Monroe would mesh well with Towns

Melo, Towns, Monroe, Mathews & a HEALTHY Calderon/ or Galloway is pretty good

I like this but what about Calderon? He will be a good veteran to have for the locker room with all the new guys.

It seems like Phil is set on trading him (I think he would have done it already if he could). We defiantly need to upgrade that position. Look at all the championship teams recently they all had very good guards in the back court.
Parker, Ginóbili, Wade, Allen (Miami and Boston), Kidd, Cassell, Rondo, Allen, Payton, Williams, Billups, Hamilton, Bryant, Fisher (Our best PG is coaching  and our best coach is president :banghead: ) etc.

Look how far we got with and old Jason Kidd :nonono: .
Last time we made it to the finals he had Houston, and Ward. When was the last time we had a back court that good?
To win you need good Guards and a good big man. Our last finals team had Guards, but Ewing was too old, and injured by then. Our last Championship team had Reed, Frazier, and Monroe.

Good points. The best available point guards have already been locked up however. Unless we overpay for for one of the restricted free agents.

S&T with Chicago:
Jimmy Buckets for Melo (not sure if this could work financially tho)

Draft Okafor

Attempt to sign RFA's like:
Kawhi Leonard (max)
Tobias Harris
Reggie Jackson

Trade for a 2016 1st round pick from a bad team by taking on an undesirable contract (nothing too outrageous ie: Amare type) and/or a package of 2nd rounders and a young player or two who's not in our long term plans (Shved for example)...and even Calderon.

Re-Sign Larkin & Cole for cheap

And finally rebuild the right way...

Derek Fisher-

Langston Galloway/Larkin
Hardaway Jr/Shved
Jimmy Butler/Early/Thanasis
THarris?/Acy
Okafor/Aldrich

+2016 lotto pick via trade, and still have a ton of cap space to be used responsibly...maybe Durant in 2016?

Rondo?
We don't have a draft pick in 2016 so it is going to be tough to find one.

just thought of something if they do get Rondo, what about Paul Pierce? he will also be a free agent (should he be considered for next season). He is currently getting the vet min $5 mil a year. We need some veteran leadership on this team, like we had with Sheed, Thomas, and Kidd.

C
Jahlil Okafor Or Karl-Anthony Towns
PF
Carmelo Anthony
SF
Paul Pierce (short term deal if we get Rondo), Cleanthony Early
SG
Wesley Matthews, Tim Hardaway Jr.
PG
Rajon Rondo, Langston Galloway

This I think would be a pretty good defensive team too.

edit Pierce has another year on his contract :nonono: my fault.

todays dream offseason thread

1} we win the lottery
2} we get and agreement from below free agents in advance of draft night
3} we trade Calderon and #1 overall to Phili for the 4th and 6th picks
4} draft Towns at 4 and Cauley-Stein at 6
5} with the 33mil in cap space open after the trade we sign Marc Gasol and LMA to 16mil per contracts with PO next year so they can resign after the cap rises

post draft team

Galloway /
THjr /
Melo / Thannis / Early
LMA / Towns
Gasol / Cauley-Stein

bring back Amundson and Jason Smith if possible

with remaining 4 spots you approach with min contracts:

Cole Aldrich
Mo Williams
Luc Mbah a Moute
Cory Brewer
Randy Foye
Marco Belinelli
Glen Davis
Louis Scola

so obviously thats all based on 2 things -
1 Phil gets an agreement from the key FAs to sign here for less and be the new big three with Melo
2 Phily gets the 4th pick and 6th picks and is willing to trade them for #1 and take on Calderon in the process

Also I have us drafting Towns at 4 because Okafor, Mudiay and Russell go 1-3 but whoever of those guys is left at 4 is fine with me

so thats my dream team for 2015

I don't think its that. Just can't see how Miami would give up all those draft picks if they didn't think he was coming back. I think they already have a deal in place for him.

Trade Melo to the Lakers for their pick and use our pick to draft Okafur (if we're selecting 1st)

Dream Scenario

2015 Draft - Okafur and Towns (Laker Pick)
2015 Free Agency - Butler or Leonard (Max Deal)
2016 - Durant (Max) and Conley

Dream Lineup

Conley
Leonard/Butler
Durant
Towns
Okafur

Draft Russel, sign Mathews, sign Draymond. Melo plays the "4". At Center, we have to try to find a two-headed defensive-minded tandem that can finish at the rim and pass the ball, for the mle/vet_mins or by trading THjr.

Lance, Galloway, Cole, and Wear are decent bench players to keep around for the turnaround. Even Admunson.

Hence why it's a "dream" lineup.

dream doesnt mean impossible

these are not imposibble.
you cant %100 sure about Butler's contract will be matched.
cheap bulls management...

millsap would get more than 10m but is it possible yes.
its like miami heat fan thoughts about pairing bosh-lebron-wade with some financial sacrifice.
