Lakers vs Celtics 6:30pm

Post#1 » by aaron_gray » Sun Feb 22, 2015 11:26 am

After a loss to the Nets where the opposition got insanely hot in the 3rd, your Los Angeles Lakers travel to take on the Boston Celtics. On the heavily accented side of things, Ainge sent Prince back to Detroit while acquiring IT for Thornton and a 1st. This is the way to build if you choose to follow the way of Ainge: collect assets until opportunities arise to swap assets for good players. Meanwhile, Evan Turner has been playing point and doing a decent job if I may add. Avery Bradley has been running a lot more p/rs and Smart has been somewhat confusing. Their perimeter defense was dominant against Sacramento, and the Bradley/Smart duo is a certified beast. However, their spacing can also get cramped, as nobody guards Turner and Jae Crowder.

Speaking of Jae Crowder, he's an extremely intriguing free agent target. Correct me if I'm wrong, but his contract expires this year. He's been known for his defense, and he can chase shooting guards around the court, he can get physical with guys driving from the perimeter and he can be tasked with marking stretch fours. He's not a very good shooter on offense unfortunately, and that can mean death for a lot of wings. What he can do though, is create separation on drives and finish strong. Dude is a bulldozer when he puts the ball on the floor. He's also a willing passer in a contract year, something that cannot be said for Wesley J.

On the Laker side of things, Scott has announced that another change to the starting lineup is coming. It appears that the only player safe from being benched is Clarkson. This could mean Hill reentering the starting lineup or Ryan Kelly moving to the forward spot with Wesley Johnson starting. Maybe Lin is going to replace Weezy at the 2. It would be a shame if the Black-Sacre duo was split apart so soon though, as the tandem had just started coming into their own defensively. While he has struggled to contain perimeter players off the dribble on defense, Ryan Kelly has started to show signs of life on offense. It'd be nice to see the starting lineup for at least a couple more games IMO.

Projecting starting lineups for this game is damn near impossible, so I'll just throw out who I think will be starting:

I really don't see us winning this one even without Sullinger, Isiah Thomas is 4-0 against us this season after today it will be 5-0.

We can't get happy because we won against the Celtics this time around. I remember so many people happy about the win last season. This is a different case. We HAVE TO LOSE, even if it's against the Celtics.

Our future is depending on these losses...

Anyone else find it odd they scheduled Celtics at Lakers during the Oscars?

^^^I was thinking the same thing.
Staples may be half empty.
It's also raining in LA which keeps some people away from events.

By the way, I'm always happy when we beat the C's. But I realize a win today could hurt our draft position.

No wonder Scott blew his top on Nick Young. That defense was embarrassing even for a tanking team.

Who would've thought Smart and Exum would be low percentage 3&D PGs coming into the league?

Lin playing really well. I wish we could keep him and Davis for the bench next season.

The Boozer - Davis combo has pretty good passing.

Really? Doesn't seem to be a sarcastic comment, but with the trade a Lin thread, I kinda thought that everyone here pretty much already hated Lin or that he kinda proved with his play that he doesn't deserve any consideration.

What I did intend to post though before reading yours was that I doubt that we will keep him past this year, and I think he can score. We should have showcased him more prior to the deadline and maybe even got an asset. Not watching the game, but seems like he only got a chance to play today because Price got 2 quick fouls.

No ****, I didn't realize until today that Cody Zeller had two other brothers in the NBA. I always thought Zeller was Cody while watching different teams.
