The Suns do not need Thomas Robinson. If the team signed him, it would be another sign that they are committed to the Morris brothers, which is something I would not be too excited about. I think the Suns biggest need now is a starting caliber power forward that can rebound and play defense. With the recent moves creating at least around 20 million dollars in cap space available, the Suns can be players in free agency. Idk if they are going to be able to attract any of of the top guys available like Lamarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan, or Greg Monroe, but they can try. I would take any one of those guys to pair with Len. I can even envision a sign and trade of one of them to the Suns for the Morris brothers so the other team does not lose them for nothing and the Suns then still have a lot of room to sign other players.
If the Suns can say swap the Morris brothers for a top unrestricted free agent big man, that takes the Morris brothers 13 million dollars off the cap and replaces it with a 15-18 million dollar number. That could leave the Suns with at least another 15 million in cap space to use as long as they wait to sign Brandon Knight's contract. The Suns could then have a starting lineup of Bledsoe, Knight, Tucker, Top FA, and Len. Off the bench they could have Goodwin, Warren, a re-signed Wright, and use the remaining cap space to fill out the bench or another big time free agent. Sounds like a great young team.
I do think the Suns might stay away from Aldridge though because he turns 30 this offseason and does not fit the team's vision of a young building block. Greg Monroe is turning 25 this offseason while DeAndre Jordan turns 27. Both of those guys make a lot more sense with the rest of the team's age bracket, Monroe especially. Either of those two would be major upgrades inside. Look at Monroe's game log and check out February.
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/gamelog/_ ... reg-monroe He averaged 17 pts and 13 rbs in 32 mpg for the month. 14 double-doubles in 17 games and he narrowly missed a double-double in the other three games. He is going to get a max from someone. He is unrestricted and only 24 years old. He is 6'11", 250 lbs., averages 15 pts, 10 rbs, and 2 asst on 49% fg and 74% ft. He sounds exactly like what the Suns are missing. And if the Suns can sign him outright, they can move the Morris brothers back to the bench to have Markieff be a supersub sixth man.
