Markieff's rebounding
This really can't be said enough...Kieff needs to improve his rebounding. I get that he can score and he's good at it (even though he's inconsistent as s**t at that too) but how the hell is so terrible at the other end of the court?
He's isn't a player who is new to the NBA or anything anymore, next season will be his FIFTH in the league. And its not like he's too small or anything either, he's 6'10, 245 lbs.
Look at his rebounding numbers through his game log, especially look at how little rebounds he has even in games he plays a ton of minutes
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/gamelog/_ ... eff-morris
You can make the case that he's maybe the worst rebounder among all starting PFs in the conference right now. He's definitely bottom 5. Considering how much everyone used to bitch about Amare's rebounding, he was much better Kieff in this category.
I get that askin for 10 rebounds might be a little too much for Kieff but considering he doesn't play a lick of defense either, can't he at least make up for it by averaging at least like 8 boards a game like how Love does?
I don't get it, he watches Len play defense and rebound his ass off, doesn't it ever motivate him into thinking "Wow, maybe I should become a little like him and rebound and defend better too considering he's like 5 years younger than me and already way better at it".
Kieff actually became a WORSE rebounder this year than he was last year which is even more baffling considering he's playing way more minutes this year than last (nearly 5 mins more PER GAME).

Bingo. Keef's rebounding is a top 3 flaw of this team. I find it pretty funny how bad Amare used to get bashed by Suns fans over his rebounding but Keef is 10 times worse and it goes ignored. He's such a great offensive player, which makes it so disappointing.

If we drafted Kawhi instead of Markieff this team would be amazing. Lance Blanks failed us.

Well speaking of Kawhi...guess who will be a RFA this summer...

Only five starting PFs average under 10 TRB/100 possessions. Keef, Mbah a Moute, Middleton, Frye, Thad Young.

Re: Markieff's rebounding
I usually defend Keef but his rebounding is getting worse and he's back to being inconsistent. I had thought he'd mostly put that behind him but for more than a month now he's been very up and down. Same with his brother but he's so rarely up it's not as noticeable. We blame everything on our guards but we simply need new forwards, starting and coming in off the bench. Trade the twins, move Tucker to the bench behind Warren and draft nothing but big men for the next several years.

They must have made an error because he's a 6'7 SG.
Granted he's also pulling down 4 rebounds a game while being an excellent 3pt shooter.
Oh what I would do to have some like him as our starting guard....
..then again if he came to the Suns, Hornacek would probably play him out of position as a PF or maybe even Center since he has good size for his actual position, SG.

Re: Markieff's rebounding
I just don't get why he is so bad at rebounding. Did he learn too much by Frye to just sit out on the arc? Does he not follow in his shots? Can he not box out? Is he bad at positioning himself? Does he have no hustle? I just dont get how a 6'10 pf can average under 7 boarda a game playing 35+ mins.

What is his wingspan? Are his arms basically the equivalent to a 6'5 player or something? If so this will be a massive liability in the future with him starting or playing 30+ mins we will almost certainly lose the rebounding battle every single night even if Len can average 10.

His wingspan is 6'11
Tucker is 6'5 and has a 7'1 wingspan
Bledsoe is 6'1 and has a 6'8 wingspan

What are the wingspans like of some other pf's around Kieff's height that get a lot more boards? Any that have the same or similar wingspan that get bulk boards?

LMA is 6'11, has a 7'4 wingspan
Monroe is 6'11, has a 7'2 wingspan
Randolph is 6'9, has a 7'4 wingspan
Cousins is 6'11, has a 7'6 wingspan
Jefferson is 6'10, has a 7'3 wingspan
Wright is 6'10, has a 7'5 wingspan
Markieff also isn't 6'10 he was measured at 6'9.25 at the combine.

Re: Markieff's rebounding
His arms are not the issue IMO. His standing reach (8'10.5") is in line with most players around his size:

His issues are positioning, boxing out, effort, etc.

You could make the argument that without Pop Kawhi wouldn't be the player he is today.

Kevin Love is 6′ 9.5” with a wingspan of 6′ 11.3” , and a standing reach of 8′ 10” - very similar to Keiff's measurements.
Keiff's problem is that he doesn't box out. It is one thing to not grab the rebound yourself, but at least box out your man so that you prevent him from grabbing the board. Keiff is consistently not bodying up his man.
