Match-ups with Cavaliers

Post#1 » by WheelsOntario4 » Tue Feb 24, 2015 6:41 pm

Jackson vs Irving

The Pope vs JR Smith

Prince vs LBJ

Greg Monroe vs Kevin Love

Dre vs Timofey Mozgov

Jackson looks athletic and should be a great fit for your Pistons and I'm excited to watch tonight. Playing the Cavs will be a great test. Obviously LBJ will get his, but what matchups do you think SVG will take advantage of? Which ones will be tough for DET?

SVG has talked about making sure when Moose has a tough matchup against a stretch 4, he balances that matchup out by pounding the ball down low. I expected Moose to get a ton of touches so he tortures Love & Thompson. I'm also looking for Reggie to make Kyrie Irving work by penetrating early and often.

Makes sense Redeemed, SVG is a great coach. What about Dre vs Mozgov though? And do you think Prince will limit LBJ?

Sure, Prince will limit LBJ. He's turned over a new leaf and will do this for the first time in his career. :noway:

I remember the chief criticism this collective board had against Prince was his inability to defend James. He still won't be able to guard him, but will do a better job than Singler.

Moose and Dre needs to help on D when Lebron attacks the paint. Other than that, Tay should be able to do a decent job on the perimeter.

Not to put too much on RJ, but limiting penetration at the 1 is the only way we can compete with the Cavs. James is alway going to be James, but the Cavs only look like contenders when Irving gets himself and the bigs easy buckets.

And no, prince can't guard james. Nobody can. The only thing you can hope for is to give him jumpshots and hope he isn't having one of those nights.

Man win a few games, make a trade and all of the sudden other teams start making game threads for you.

If I remember correctly Kyrie did kill us, but it was from the three mostly

Oh, he was hot from everywhere and did make 6 3's. He got 7 shots in the paint though and 6 FT's on his way to 38 points. DJ couldn't stay in front of him. Bottom line, with both Lebron and Irving, you have to invite jumpshots, try to get a hand up, and hope they miss. If they rain 3's on you, eh, it happens sometimes in the NBA. The alternative is to play up on them and have them get a running start at your bigs in the lane every other possession.
