Just posted in the trade thread, but probably should have posted it here.

Love KG. Really appreciated his time here.

People that are angry that KG couldn't do here what he did in Minnesota and Boston are clueless, I'm sorry. First of all, I don't even think he declined AS much as people think, I don't think he got anywhere near the help on the court as he did in his last couple of years in Boston though. Furthermore, he's **** ing 38 years old, he's not going to play big minutes and put up nightly double doubles anymore.

I'm pissed about how awful the trade turned out for us too...but we're not going to hold KG responsible for that, are we? You know whose fault it is that the trade didn't work out? Deron Williams. If he played the way he was supposed to, we WOULD have been title contenders. Instead, we asked KG and Pierce to carry the younger player supposedly in his prime, and they couldn't do that. If you want to talk decline, Deron Williams saw a bigger decline than either Pierce or KG. But that's a discussion for another day, I don't want to fill an appreciation thread with anger and hate, but any negative feelings directed towards KG are totally misguided imho.

I don't know how KG went from 30mpg in Boston + 38mpg in the playoffs in 2012-13 to not being able to play 24 minutes in 2013-14. He let Kidd take the fall for his minutes but it's pretty clear that his body can't handle anymore. Sucks because the guy is actually really useful when he's on the floor. Maybe that period where he considered retirement and didn't workout in the summer really took a toll on him.

Definitely appreciated him when he was on the floor. Intensity, rebounding, defense, unselfishness. It's a shame we gave up so much for him and couldn't throw him out there with guys as competitive as him.

Father Time is undefeated with the exception of Tim Duncan.

I love Duncan, but tbh, I think he's a system player at this point who has Gregg Popovich to thank for still looking pretty good out there. I think he could easily look just as declined as KG has if you stuck him on a team without a real system and without players to take the pressure off him. This was still a debate as recently as 2013, but then KG came to the Nets, and looks like a corpse, while Duncan is still going strong in SA. I really don't think a single summer caused KG to decline that much, I think it was much more a product of coaching and the teammates around him.

He gave a big shoutout to Brooklyn on his presser today and said that he loved playing there and that Nets are a first Class organization. He also said that he didnt want to leave the team in the middle of the season but the trade benefitted both parts so he agreed to it.

Its such as game that DWill has regressed to the player he is. I firmly believe that Nets couldve beaten Heat last year if DWill was playing like in Utah.. Or even New Jersey. I've lost so much respect for him after these 1.5 years of watching the Nets.. I get the injuries but dude doesnt seem to care. Its like he doesnt even try to be competitive. Anyway, it was a good ride. The second half of last year was really fun.

I gotta admit, watching Deron Williams in Brooklyn has been very depressing. He's really painted a bad image of his career with his poor work ethic and attitude.

Billy King destroyed the Nets, can't really blame KG for that one. Amongst the players though, Deron Williams underachieved the most by far. He was supposed to be the Nets guy, and he can't even get starting minutes anymore (or he can, but it's not worth having him out there).

Bad trade or not, It was a joy to watch his work ethic and his passion for the game first hand at Barclays. I'm glad that we were able to give him one last playoff run. NBA Basketball won't ever be the same.

Last of a dying breed, man Duncan, Kobe and KG all retiring the same year. It brings a tear to my eye knowing that the guys I grew up watching and who made me fall in love with the game are all no longer here. NBA will never be the same

Great bump.

The fact that we won't see Kobe, KG, and TD on an NBA floor again hasn't really sunk in yet. While their skills diminished significantly since end of their prime, it was still awesome to see them around. Next season already has a strange look to it. 3 pillars are gone.

The real question is can the Mavs put Dirk in a position to still contribute at a high level, like the Spurs were able to for Duncan. The upcoming season might very well be Dirk's last rodeo tbh

I think Dirk has one (maybe two) more left in him. His mobility is really lacking right now.

Sidenote: I remember those Kobe shoes. Some of the ugliest basketball shoes of all time lol.

End of an era.

OTOH, Duncan plays four years of college ball, KG had so much more wear and tear. (Kobe refused to draw charges)

Thanks for the honesty.
