Why did the Cavs sign this atrocious player again? If he's gonna function as some sort of proverbial motivator, tutor and shouting instruction at least glue him to the bench, because I've seen this guy suffering to be a serviceable basketball player for far too long on OKC, my eyes can't take it anymore...

He finished a layup! He's basically there for Chicago/ Washington if Mozgov gets in foul trouble. He shouldn't play much. They have a solid 8 man rotation.

Wow. Game looked over. Nice passing by Lebron and shot making by the team. And somehow in the bonus now.

Those Caldwell-Pope pull up 3's in transition when the defense got back in his vicinity were bull though haha. If he can make those consistently (not many can) then he's a lot better than I thought.

Edit: Caldwell-Pope pull up 3pt % 30.6 0.4/1.3 per game.
Thought so.

Also Bull crap autocorrects to Bull. Nice.

This went from down 14 to up 3 in an eye blink. Kevin love is out of his mind. This team has some crazy spurt-ability when they're clicking

Fox sports ohio is so brutal production wise. They easily lead the league in live action missed because they're showing replays or doing promos

Absolutely no idea why the Cavs wanted him. There arent even any serious post big men to worry about in the East besides Nene and Taj. Thats literally all Perkins is good for physical post defense. Hes arguably the worst offensive player in the league and has been for years and w/ age the rest of his defensive game and lack of fundamentals are glaring

Funny, I haven't minded his turnovers tonight. His passing has been superb.

This is a 36-11 run. From down 67-53 to up 89-78. Defense has been outstanding during this stretch

I rather play undersized than give Perkins any minutes whatsoever.

Anyway, Kyrie has been pretty craptacular today so LeBron has to do some heavy lifting in terms of finding guys. He's been awesome at it, should really have +15 assists with how open Cleveland was on a lot of their shots.

Amazing defense today, especially in the 2nd half, but again, stupid turnovers... he makes too many rushed and risky passes. Plus, really struggling to get anything in the basket outside the paint. I mean, this isn't nit-picking, the turnovers and being a non-threat outside the paint has been really bad this year.

this game is a prime example of the rare flaw of plus minus

Love doesnt deserve sucha low +/- compared to lebron

Turnovers kept us in the game but i thought hed stop at 5 or 6 lol

Its like his skills are inverse of his athletic ability

The higher he can jump the worse his 3 point shot is

It's not a flaw of +/-. You shouldn't use raw +/- to make any conclusions, it should be taken at face value - Cavaliers have outscored Pistons by 30 with Lebron on the floor, and have been outscored by 1 with Love on the floor. Any conclusions made from that are an example of a flaw in the "concluder's" reasoning, not the stat itself.

Nice second half run, it looked like it was going to be a disappointing loss.

I can't help but worry that the turnovers are going to be the team's Achilles heel. At this point, it isn't a fluke or an aberration - there's something wrong with the team's offensive system, and Lebron's role in it, that keeps causing these problems. They may need another ball handler in the starting lineup. Irving isn't going to be that guy, because he is basically a shooting guard right now. Lebron is showing that he can't be the true point guard - his passing is elite at the point of attack, but he is hemorrhaging turnovers as the guy running the entire offense. They don't have an NBA caliber point guard on the roster, unfortunately - Delladova is pretty awful on offense, and Irving is just a really good scorer.

There is an alternative to changing personnel - changing offensive scheme, and replicating Miami's model of deliberate, slowed-down ball movement where the offense doesn't depend on a single guy initiating the plays. That would kill the high pace that has made the Cavs so good lately. Hopefully they find a real point guard next season, ideally a taller guard who can defend 2s. Guys like that who can also hit threes are rare, though.

Cavs win, Wizards lose. More separation. Now we need to hope the Mavs make a run in the 4th against the Raptors...
