Looking forward to hopefully playing them in the B1G tournament. Those prayers won't fall like that and no home cooking officiating.
And that court storming was embarrassing. #14 team in the nation and you storm the court? LOL

What a terrible bench, Dukkan is as awful now as he was as a frosh.....I am worried playing against fast guards like Trimble, UW lacks that quickness.....biggest disappointment, Koenig, had a terrible game, hopefully this will be a learning experience.

Yeah I can't believe they stormed the court. It just looks pathetic if you do it when you actually have a pretty good team.

They had trouble with quick guards last year too.
The defense is not much different than last year. But if they get into foul trouble and have to rely on Duje and the Pips they're in trouble. Also, it would help if Gasser could find his three point stroke.

Court storming in any situation is lame other than winning a championship. Storming the court for the #14 team beating the #5 team who is also in your conference at home (not to mention your team has a national title) is downright embarrassing.

I can't live the the consistent and continued inability to inbound the damn ball against pressure. We've seen it for a decade at the end of every close game. I've never seen a jv middle school team have more trouble with it.
If a guard gets hot and decides he's winning the game through relentless driving, the Badgers are always in trouble.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

Re: 2014-15 Badger Basketball Game/Discussion Thread
Koenig and Gasser were a combined 3-17. Even with Bo refusing to change his def. when quick guards are killing the Badgers, the fact that two good shooters like Koenig and Gasser shot so poorly made the difference.
It's not like the Badgers weren't getting good shots...they were. Sometimes it just comes down to the other team shooting better than the other team.
As poorly as the Badgers shot, they were in the game until the end. A few turnovers and a few missed close shots gave the game to Maryland.
The Badgers are a better team. But Maryland has some real good players (Wells, Trimble, and Layman are all pro prospects) . In a ten game series, the Badgers would win six or seven times. This was one time the other team won.

Wells isn't a guard though. He was blowing past Hayes, Dekker, and Duken all game. They just struggle against quick dribble penetration in general. Even with that, the Badgers still could have won if Koeing and Gasser weren't brick machines all game. Besides the missed layup, every shot Gasser missed was a wide open three.
Not sure what the hell happened with Duken, but he has gone from a valuable bench piece to a big liability who can't make anything. It hurts extra bad given how thin the bench is with Jackson out. They are getting absolutely nothing out of the bench right now.

I agree it was lame for a program like Maryland to storm the court.
That said, i can't recall the last time the Kohl Center had anywhere close to that level of consistent noise and intensity as was the case tonight for Maryland. Same thing when we played at Nebraska. UW players often have to beg fans to get off their seats.
Sure the Badgers have an incredible home record at the Kohl Center, but outside of the student section, most home games there the last couple of years except when Michigan St. is in town, it tends to be a sterile environment except for brief stretches during a game.
I don't know if fans who aren't students in Madison have just gotten complacent with winning every year or to many old folks have a high percentage of tickets, but more and more i notice other teams playing in much louder arenas with fans who are vocal throughout the game, instead of just brief stretches as has become the norm at the Kohl Center where it has more of an NBA game feel than a college game.

Why's that? I know they cater to geography a bit but they're not going to be dumb enough to **** the Badgers like that.
If the Badgers are the #5 or #6 team (i.e. just miss the last 1 seed), they'll give them an Omaha, Louisville, or Columbus opening game and send them out in Dook, Virginia, or Gonzaga's region.
Note: this obviously goes under the assumption that Wisconsin is sitting right on the cusp of being #4, 5, or 6 on the S-curve come Selection Sunday.
I think if the Badgers hold serve and maybe lose 1 more game that they'll get the 1-seed over the Zags.
I'm sure you just heard Lunardi explain why the Badgers are probably in Kentucky's region. It's dumb but it'd happen.
Yeah...I was beginning to see that. I also think the committee would love for that rematch to happen.

This team probably needed the loss to get refocused. They've been coasting for a number of games now and a shake up is likely a good thing.
Also, storming the court is lame.

This has been the case ever since the Kohl Center was built. It's quiet and full of old people.

Yeah I agree completely. I'm not sure if they were giving out t shirts to entire sections or only the students section, but the way their student section wrapped around the court is exactly what needs to happen to create that kind of atmosphere. All the schools that have a great student section has at least some of the sideline. Wisconsin would be great too, if we had at least one of the sidelines to try and get more ambiance.
Instead, it's the old people paying the big bucks that sit on the sidelines and they just don't have the intensity. It's funny how we have a chant at the end of games "Stand up old people!" that shows how our atmosphere is just not on the same level of Duke, Michigan St., Maryland, etc.

Its crazy that Wisconsin Basketball has gotten to the point where its "Championship or Bust." Another Final Four appearance would be sweet, but unfulfilling. This team can easily make another run. Maryland is a good team and that senior guard just had one of those games. Wisco will be fine.

Maryland fans deserve absolutely zero criticism for what they did after the game. It wasn't even a court storming. They waited until after all the hand-shaking was done and the Wisconsin players were off the court. And they gradually came onto the court to celebrate with the team. There's nothing wrong, lame, or embarrassing with doing that.
