GT #58: Wizards @ Timberwolves 8:00 PM (CSN/99.1 FM,1500 AM) [2/22/15]

Post#1 » by Kanyewest » Wed Feb 25, 2015 1:59 pm

The Washington Wizards have lost 11 of 15 and 3 straight out of the all star break. The Timberwolves haven't been great either but have been a tad better than the Wizards as they are only 4-6 in their past 10 games, who have improved significantly since Ricky Rubio has returned to the lineup.

This game will feature the strategy of the great mid range jumper, brought forth by the genius of these two coaches.

A battle of #1 picks in Wall and Wiggins.

Also Wall and Levine are the last two slam dunk champions.

And the debate of Porter vs Bennett continues on.

Plus the European henchmen.

These are the types of games where Wittman will actually look like a good coach. I expect a 15-20 pt blowout.

For those hoping for Wittman to get fired... a bad loss here would likely be a huge step towards that goal.

Here is to hoping then :D

Wiggins has been way better then he was earlier in the year, where he was atrocious (then again that whole team was). I'm happy to see him improving mid season. I just hope Saunders doesn't ruin him with his predictable offense

I usually never root for the Wizards to lose. I hope the T'wolves blow them out by 30 points and the 76ers do the same. We can't keep putting a band-aid on an open wound. Randy and EG have to go!

I can guarantee you this will not be a blow out. KG's first game back, the Target Center will be packed, and the Twolves will be very amped up. We've also been playing a lot better lately ever since Rubio got back.

Bennett also got injured a couple games ago and wont be returning for a couple weeks, so no Porter vs Bennett battle unfortunately

Wizards lose. The energy in that building is going to be electric.

Yeah, I'm pulling for losses here and against Philly. Hate that I am, but I am.

An epic showdown of Bad Shot Selection. Timberwolves have second highest percentage of FGA coming from 2pt range beyond three feet. Wizards are tied for 5th.

Your top teams in **** shots:

1. Lakers -- 52.7%
2. Timberwolves -- 51.9%
3. Kings & Knicks -- 51.6%

5. Wizards, Pacers, Hornets, Grizzlies -- 51.3%

The "leaders" in 2pt shots from 10+ feet:

1. Knicks -- 38.7%
2. Lakers -- 37.8%
3. Wizards -- 37.2%
4. Hornets -- 35.1%
5. Timberwolves -- 34.1%

Wizards (23.2%) and Timberwolves (22.9%) are third and fourth in percentage of FGA that are 2pt attempts from 16+ feet,

Too many convenient excuses for Wittman to lose his job.

The good start, the injuries, it's enough to give Wittman another season. Heck, Grunfeld may earn himself a big fat extension, himself - Mission Accomplished!

The "who's gonna win?" machine says Wiz have a 69% chance of winning tonight. Could well end up being a 3-game winning streak. Next up on the calendar: Philly (Wiz odds of winning 77%) and Detroit (67%).

From Simmons' trade value column:

12. John Wall

Back in Round 2 of the 2014 playoffs, an impeccably coached Pacers team exploited Wall’s flaws. He couldn’t explode coast-to-coast on them because of their transition defense. He couldn’t play slash-and-kick because they kept funneling him right into Roy Hibbert. They wanted him to keep taking long jumpers and trying to do too much. And it worked. But in the process, they taught him how to shift gears like a Le Mans driver. This season, could he maintain his Westbrookian coast-to-coast freakociousness while running a half-court offense, picking his scoring spots and mastering a vicious slash-and-kick game? Actually, yes!

Wall gets “underrated franchise guy” status for two reasons: He hasn’t played a single NBA game for a competent offensive coach, and he became polarizing for certain media members even though he’s a splendid teammate and there was never anything remotely polarizing about him. The dude deserves better. He’s 24 and he gives a crap.
Those Chocolate City home games should be loads of fun; instead, a passive-aggressive thought bubble lingers over the semi-comatose stands that reads, I mean, if we lose like three more games, maybe they’ll fire Wittman and we could STILL get a no. 4 seed. You know what that dynamic is called? Del Negroitis. It’s treatable.

Wow, so many in this thread have my exact same feelings. I love my Wiz and am the biggest optimists. I think we can win even when we play the best teams and would never root against us. I hate to see a good man like Witt get fired but I want him fired, like yesterday. Therefore I am willing to sacrifice a loss tonight and even to Philly if it means Witt is gone and he better be if that happens.

I also disagree with people who say it's still not going to help or change much this year. Again, what Newman did in that one half against the Raps was just about more transparent then anything I've seen from dimwit. Idk if he us the answer but I know Witt isn't, a change is needed, and Newman deserves a chance. I would like to see what he has to offer before we go into the market
