I was actually gonna take Alonzo Mourning with this pick. But thanks to poopdamoop (¬¬) I have to use my second option.

I choose you, Dikembe Mutombo.

Mourning and Mutombo gone? Damn, there goes my monster defense Twin Towers idea. :x Especially Mutombo's rim protection with Garnett's horizontal/pick & roll defense would be almost impossible to score against...The intensity of Mourning/Garnett combined would make the opposing team piss their pants.

Really wanted to select a defensive big here too, but I guess the drop off is too high here. I hope I can still get my sleeper pick in the next round.

Anyway, Since my strategy of waiting for Curry didn't work, I'll pick one of the BPAs, John Stockton. All-time assist and steals leader, 5 time All-Defensive second team makes him essentially the third/fourth best defensive guard of his time behind Jordan, Payton, and Dumars.

He's a good percentage shooter. Volume isn't quite there but that's because he played in the 80s-90s.

I'll definitely be able to pick up some volume scoring options later down the line, so I'll pick one of the greatest teammates ever here.

Not sure how well Wade and Stockton would work together, considering that both needed the ball in their hands to be fully effective, but talent-wise, they're amazing.

While point guard is a position that is highly saturated with talent, none can claim to be 9-time All-Defense or DPOY. I select Gary Payton .

1. Please dont talk about any player who has not been drafted.

2. A Center who was on Ewing/DRob lvl is still on the board

3. The 2 best SGs in the draft are still on the board.

Hard choice for me, but I think I am going to draft Tracy McGrady.

It's between Kevin Garnett and Oscar Robertson for me. Jerry West is the third possibility.

I'll take KG. I think you can easily build a good team around him if you're at least a moderately competent GM.

West and Erving are my favorite players here, but the Big Ticket seems like a slightly better choice than both (and better than Oscar). He's just a ridiculously versatile player, great defensive anchor, and I don't have to worry if he'll translate well to the modern game, unlike Oscar, Jerry or even Julius.

Taking a #1 offensive option (like the perimeter players that I just mentioned) was very tempting (especially Oscar, who's a great scorer AND playmaker), but that's what I did the last we had an all-time fantasy draft (I took Kobe). This time, I'll pick a bigman, and a defensive anchor. We'll see what happens.

it is your turn.

I think the ball sharing thing would be somewhat of an issue on pretty much everyone's team... I like the way your team is looking now though.

Wanted someone else at first, but I've changed my plans - I'll take another great stat sheet stuffer - Clyde Drexler. Surprised to see that no one's taken him before I have.

Well, ideally I'd wanted to pair Robinson with an excellent transition passing PG (preferably one who can drain the long ball). But Nash, Stockton, Kidd, Paul are all taken. My next choice would be an elite perimeter scorer; someone who can take the heat off of Robinson, particularly when the playoffs roll around (so it would have to be someone who can volume score efficiently in both the rs and playoffs).

So....while I'm not intentionally making an All-Spurs team to start with, I'm going to go with The Iceman for my 2nd pick: George Gervin. A guy who was able to get to the rim (or the line) even in a time without good floor-spacing or rules outlawing hand-checking.....a guy who pretty consistently averaged >35 pts/100 possessions (once as high as 42.4) on shooting efficiency that was significantly above league average----and he did that in both rs and playoffs (no significant drop-off in the post-season).

I should have been more specific to say don't name players.

Robinson/Nash would be a dream-like duo (in a draft where all players would be available, including the 12 guys who are banned here, there's a good chance of pulling that off, but here, I knew it wasn't going to happen).

After RSCD took Reggie, I was thinking about Gervin, too, but decided to take Drexler because he's IMO a better, more well-rounded player than Gervin. George is the better scorer, pretty easily (top 10 scorer of all-time pretty easily), but Clyde is a far better playmaker and defender.

It's still a great pick, though. Robinson being able to work as the #2 scoring option (can be #1 on any given night, too), and anchor a defense, means that he can be utilized exactly the way he should be.
