^ Haven't read or heard career-threatening anywhere, but it's all but certainly a season ender and effectively ends CHI's year. What really sucks for them is that they're too good to fall all the way out of the playoffs and are now probably nothing more than first-round fodder as either the 5th or 6th seed (can't see anyone behind MIL realistically catching them in the standings).

I was just saying career ending because he keeps getting injured. It must take a lot out of him coming back time and time again and then get injured again and again. It might be best for him to retire.

Re: Around the League
Too many promising careers end because of injuries...Penny Hardaway, Brandon Roy, Grant Hill...all guys that we perhaps never really got a chance to see at their peaks for an extended period of time because of injuries. And it looks like Rose might just join that list. I feel bad for him honestly, I don't know how I would personally be able to fight through the rehab once again after being injured over and over again.

Feel bad for Rose, he needs to take it easy when he comes back and play limited minutes not be thrust into a starters role.
On another note, I wonder if CHI entertains a Brandon Jennings trade to fill in for Rose.

I bet Rose does retire. He has already alluded that he won't take risks against his post NBA career regarding his body.

Re: Around the League
And just like that, the Bulls are no longer a contender. They are missing their X-factor that can turn it up in the playoffs, which was Rose. I don't think an emerging Butler or Gasol can get them over the 2nd round.
I would tear it down, Rose is getting Superstar money and he's always injured, that takes a huge chunk of their cap space away, almost essentially dead money. You can't build a contender with having a third of your cap space taken away.

I also feel really bad for Rose. Before his injury problems he was a wonder. Butler is a tremendous player in his own right, but the Rose injury is a huge blow for Chicago and likely removes them from the true contenders list.

He's not "done" but they will have to wonder if it's worth maxing Butler and retaining Tibby Tom.
Could be the beginning of the end in Chi-Town with a firesale off-season.
I think a core of Butler, Gasol, Gibson and Noah is still really good for the next couple years. Even better if Mirotic develops into a core player.
But they definitely need to address their PG situation this summer. How many years does Rose have left on his max extension?

Considering the fact that a lot of their core is getting older and often injured, I'm going to disagree. Unless like you said, Mitotic steps up in a big way and Doug becomes better too. They should call up Nate Rob again.

I just checked on NBA Trade Machine and D-Rose has 3 more years (including this one). So he'll be on the Bulls through 2017.

I think a lot of the injuries are due to Thibs running his players into the ground. Rose is just one casualty of it. Regardless, I seriously doubt Chicago lets Butler or Noah go.

I am not as high on Taj Gibson like most posters of RealGM. He is a bench player who has been unable to beat out aging vets for years now while he is getting older himself. That usually is not a recipe for being a starter on a contending team. He may be a solid starter on a mediocre or bottom feeder though.

That and their medical staff too. Deng was one of the primary casualties besides Rose too if I recall correctly.
They would get a boatload of picks for Butler and Noah though, but yeah, I think they just see how they are this season and go from there before any teardowns/fire sale.

I think he's fantastic for the role that he's in. He's not a star in the NBA, but lives in that weird space where he's too good to be a bench player, but really isn't a star player either. He will melt down quick once the bounce in his legs leaves him.

Re: Around the League
They are saying 6 weeks he could be back in time for playoffs,he has a choice to repair or remove,if he removes he can still have a good remainder of his prime but will have knee problems later in life,if he repairs, more than likely he will keep re-injuring it.

That's probably a standard diagnosis, but we've seen Rose be medically cleared, and not return before. I'd bet he's done for the season. Also, as far as having the arthritis problems later in life, that's not as far in the future as it might seem. Brandon Roy struggled with the same arthritis pain while he was still trying to play. Honestly, I'll be surprised if Rose ever returns capable of playing starters minutes again.

The thing is, Rose was merely a shell of his former self this year before the injury, so honestly, I don't think it changes their status as a contender.
