So let's say that happened. Didn't sign Knight and kept the draft pick. We couldn't get a free agent to come last year (Bosh, Lebron, Love, etc) when we had Dragic and Bledsoe, and a decent record. We would have Bledsoe, Len, and a so-so record trying to attract 2015 free agents. I don't think we would get anything. Basically 2016 would be nearly the same team as we have now plus some new bench scrubs. That LaL pick would be coming in 2017 and probably be around #16. No we are in a much better position because even if we had to, Bledsoe could be easily traded.

Well your just speculating. The LAL pick could also have been a HOF, its easy to speculate.
Our opinions are not going to change.

What exactly do past drafts have to do with future ones again? what am I missing here..? So we now are going to take a 3rd grade stat study of the last 3 yrs' drafts to defend this deal??? (courtesy of JaytheA) A sample size of 7-8 players in each draft. Then, magically declare Brandon Knight is a superior selection to anyone we may get in the future???

Nice one. Y'all seem to know what talent will be available in the upcoming years. You already know what underclassmen will come out, who will stay in. Who will improve....What euros will declare .... Oh, and you seem to know the $64000 question as well...... where the fLakers with finish.

Yes the draft is a crap shoot... but there appears to be 2-3 rooks per yr that everyone wishes they had. I think it would be safe to say the chances of landing one is better with a #7-8 than a #14-15. A top pick is also a nice trade chip, especially when it has been defined.

And McDuh now comes out and says the obvious, as if to validate his latest scrambling deal... he was going to go hard after Knight in Free Agency. Really ? ... so essentially he gave up the package as an insurance policy to obtain a player he was going to try for anyway. I suppose having him as a RFA does improve those odds. (I get it Foot.... but its a pricey gamble)

Sorry, I just tend to criticize McDUH a little more harshly now, as I see him as responsible for the mess called this yr.

You didn't even read my post Frank. Now that your fave Dragic is gone did he take your usually level-headed reasoning with him?

Edit: And yes ... I magically declare Knight is going to be as good or better than most draft picks we would get. You would need a superstar level player. Blake, Paul, Davis, Lebron, Durant, Love, etc. Superstar players rarely show up at the 7-8 draft pick.

Yeah Foot... read it after I posted. I understand point #3 completely. Its a leverage play and likely a play that will be needed with the perceived (assumed) reaction from the players towards FO.

Have any thoughts about how Knight feels about that after watching the Bledsoe negotiations last yr ?

My problem is with the demeanor and attitude of our front office post-trade. They're acting like a bunch of insecure little girls who are completely unwilling to admit any fault. If we never admit to making any mistakes, it's doubtful that we'll ever fix them. Also I think it makes us look unappealing to FA's.

I'm in the boat that wishes we had just taken the high-road. Thanked Goran for his contributions and moved on.

If I were going to address the "I don't trust them anymore" comment, I would do it with facts, not with defensive name-calling.

Like any non superstar player (who have a little more leverage). Its a business. He can get traded at any time. He know he's gonna get a decent contract that is at the value of other high level combo guards. If he doesn't like it then he has the option to take the qualifying offer.

We honestly need to hire Steve Nash for next year. Exactly what Bledsoe needs.

What mistake did the FO make? They didn't kowtow to Dragic when he said he wanted to play PG. Didn't let the inmates run the asylum. We don't know what happened in the discussion between Dragic and the Front office. Dragic implied the front office lied to him that he would be the main ball handler. That is his side of the story. Is it the truth? Sure, when they signed him three year ago. But things change. Did Dragic say he needed help with ball handling. Yes. And the Suns did what he asked and got Eric. Did the Suns get screwed last year when Dragic or Bledsoe were out with injuries. Yes. They would have made the playoffs for sure. Suns went out and got a good backup (not Ish). Then Dragic gets b*tchy about it. Its okay if Dragic doesn't like it and wants to be traded. Not a problem. He just opened his mouth and inserted foot. The dude needs to recognize its a team game ... not a me game. He's not Steve Nash.

Amen to every single word. He botched this big time and fails to understand there are other things he has to do for this team besides collect "assets" and piss off their best player in hopes of one dreamy day being able to land the coveted big name.

His scrambling during the trade deadline was entirely his own doing, but he'll continue to rail on Goran in the media whereby soiling this franchise's name in the process. I mean SRSLY trying to take it to Dragic for not buying into far less playing time, far less ball handling responsibilities, and playing the wing on occasion? SRSLY all this after his breakout year last year?

I could seriously smack that guy right now. He single handily destroyed all the good vibes from last year, the team chemistry, and all the goodwill he earned.

No the players did that. If they want to play me ball (IT) or "Whoa is me ball" (Dragic) and it creates problems in the locker room that is on the players. These guys are grown ups and need to play the system the coach puts together. So many posters said Dragic look disinterested during games. The dude checked-out. Dragic had his chance to prove his ability when IT was injured in December. Instead we went on a big losing streak. Then IT comes back and we win again. Then Dragic pouts and chemistry falls apart. Whiners traded. Problem solved. Good job by the front office.

Once again, McD brought IT in here. The fact that you'd fault Goran given what they did to him after his breakout season shows you live in a dream world where you reward breakout seasons by reducing their PT, responsibilities, and make the guy play out of position at times. SMH at your nonsense. Time to put down that sticky icky bro.

Yeah, bigfoot usually knows what's up, but oh well. Whatcha gone do with the Dragic haters.....It's all his fault! We love IT! He was GREAT! We NEEDED 4 PGs! Dragic should have loved playing SF! McD would be happy and a team player if we hired a couple GMs to work with him!
