I really don't want this to happen but I think its inevitable, I hope Dragic throws himself in before Rondo.

I'm in the same boat.

Rondo is of the same mold as Kobe, Scott, and Randle. I just hope the number isn't outrageous.

At some point even the anti-Stat Lakers need to realize that he is absolutely destroying a Dallas offense that was #1 in the league before he entered the picture. Dude just stands holding the ball without attacking the basket or taking a shot, not to mention horrible free throw shooting.

Rondo has been a subpar PG ever since his ACL tear. There's really little point in signing him when his best days are behind him. He's posted a 11 PER with the Mavs this year. Heck Clarkson has played much better than him over the last month. I also don't want the headache that will come with him butting heads with Scott which would be inevitable.

Excuse me for being slow, but I don't get the title.

With regard to Rondo, he's like Tim Tebow. He has talent laced with intangibles, but you have to almost build around him for him to be successful.

He needs lots of shooters, especially those of the moving without the ball variety, and guys who don't like to hold the ball in their hands.

Not a good fit by my estimation.

My assumption was this quote was addressing this exact situation.

TBH, if we keep the pick, I don't care so much if we overpay a vet PG to run the team--IF we draft a big. Someone like Dragic feeding Randle and whoever we draft could be huge to their development. I could see Rondo fitting into that, but I'm not crazy about it. However, I think our free agency this off-season is a little overblown in terms of importance. The pick seems to be paramount to me.

The FA thing is about getting back on our feet for the next two off-seasons. So we should pick a guy who people would want to play with....Not sure if Rondo's a great example of that, however.

The Bosh injury's added a new wrinkle to all this, making Dragic's time in Miami not so guaranteed. I hope we use Rondo's interest in LA to lower the cost down a bit for Dragic. But we shall see, Dragic's probably looking at anything under a 5 year max as a paycut....

With Kobe's final contract year coming up and a drastic vacuum in terms of a torch bearer, if I'm an agent--this summer is the perfect time to create a star out of my 2nd tier talent.

Only saving grace is that you'd have to wait and see how he plays in the playoffs. That's usually been a couple gears higher than his regular season performances.

i have a strong feeling we sign him in the offseason. im not against Rondo and not in favor either... but im hoping he could at least get closer to his championship days.

and yeah that Bosh issue could make Dragic think twice. i would still very much prefer the Dragon.

True, but at the rate Rondo is going he might not even see any playoff minutes.

I think that's more a sample size issue. He hasn't been getting to the line at all this year.

Which goes with my last statement. I don't think he wanted to be in Boston after the trades and I don't think he wanted to be traded to the Mavs.

See I thought Rondo was sandbagging too in Boston. But who would sandbag on Dallas? Why wouldn't you want to play with Dirk and play for Rick?

Not the most favorable comparison to Rondo here... but why would Dwight sandbag with Gasol, Kobe, and Nash? Because he's unhappy with his role.

I hope that's the case. And I hope Dragic legitmitely wants to play for us too. We NEED to upgrade at PG next year. Whether it's through the draft or FA.

I think the writing on the wall that there's a hugely valuable job opening this summer: MARQUEE FRANCHISE LOOKING FOR SEASONED PG. The Lakers don't really have any direction right now, so if you're a guy who is nearing the end of his prime and haven't gotten to really run a team, we're a clean slate, baby. We'll have future capspace, a few nice young prospects, and a global supply of rabid fans.

Rondo can come chase another ring with us AFTER we have our core in place... Randle/Clarkson/Okafor (Embiid) for the future.
