How Would You Manage the Minutes/Lineups?

PG: JACK
SG: AA
SF: JOE
PF: PLUMLEE
C: BROOK

Start the game traditional/big. Try to get Brook established. Run lots of 1/3 pick and rolls to get Joe a favorable match up against the opposing PG and hopefully get him in foul trouble.

PG: JACK
SG: AA
SF: YOUNG (Joe sits around 6)
PF: CJ
C: BROOK

About the 6-8 minute mark. We need to really rely on Brook offensively with this lineup.

PG: DERON
SG: BROWN
SF: BOGS
PF: YOUNG
C: PLUMLEE

About the 4 minute mark we go small and athletic. We should be seeing the other team's second units at this point and we should be running and gunning.

Second quarter we bring Joe back in for Bogs with the same line up. Joe should play the rest of the half. Bring the rest of the starters back in at about the 6-7 minute mark and go big/ traditional again.

Then at the half evaluate who and what line up was working/playing better and adjust playing time from there.

The problem with us is that we are too inconsistent as a team to have an established identity. So we kinda have to change our identity from game to game and even during the game. If Deron is on he gets the starter's minutes in the second half. If Bogs plays well he gets more burn in the second half. Same with Lopez and Plumlee. About the only guy that should expect 32-38 minutes every night should be Joe. Everybody else's minutes depends on their play that game. And even Joe needs to step up more and take over the games as well if our offense is sputtering. He needs to find ways to score and get to the line. Every game for the rest of the season needs to be considered a playoff game.

We are inconsistent because we have a team of mediocure inconsistent players. giving the starters minutes in the second half to whomever plays well sounds good until no one plasy good in the first half.

The bottom line is that its a talent issue. we honestly dont have much talent.... more specifically we have no 2 way talent, and even no elite 1 way talent.

we dont have a 20 point scorer, we dont have a 10+ rebound guy, we dont have a double digit assist player. we dont have an elite shooter. we dont have anyone who consistently scores. we have only 1 guy who commands a double team. i mean, the reality is we simply dont have very good players.... and it is really hard to establish consistency with mediocure inconsistent players and late round rookies with holes in their game.

CJ's minutes probably will fluctuate the most. No two PG line ups. Only reason I have AA in over Markel is because I like his defense/3 pt shooting but I am open to Markel starting at the 2 depending on how he fares over the next few games against good competition.

No one else needs to play unless its an emergency

This. I think you have to start AA because Joe is too slow on defense, and i think you need Thad out there when Mason is on the floor to spread the floor. Brook coming off the bench lets him ball hog and take as many shots as he wants down low, and i don't mind him doing that against 2nd unit players.

My issue with Brook on the bench is that
A. He's best early on ..I'd rather get that out of him early
B. You can tell what Brook is showing up early. If he's playing poorly you know to ride Plumlee
C. His FG% is down from the bench. His other numbers the same other than offensive rebounding...probably from his misses
D. I don't want him hogging shots because he can. He does better in the flow of a game and getting assisted.
E. He plays better with D.Will who should be starting

The thing is, Plumlee's production is better as a stater. Check the numbers.

If Lopez decides to show up, he will get his points. We need his points off of the bench moreso in the starting line up.

1st Unit: Deron/Brown/Johnson/Young/Lopez (Run through Lopez in half court, get out on fastbrook with everyone else)
2nd Unit: Jack/Bog/AA/Jefferson/Plumlee (Jack/Plumlee chemistry and AA jacked up shots)
Brooklyn Nets

Return to Brooklyn Nets
