Stretch-4 Options Thread
Chris Bosh?
-He's 30. But I could see him being as good as he's ever been for another five seasons here. Perfect Drummond compliment. Not terrible defense or rebounding for a stretch-4. Could we make something work trade-wise with Miami? Some kind of sign-and-trade with Monroe? Jennings included? A pick included? Idk
Nikola Mirotic?
-24. Good shooter. Good D. Good on the boards. Lots of energy for a big. Would Chicago be interested in Jennings to replace Rose?
Kevin Love-PO.
-Miracle shot SVG convinces him he'll be an MVP candidate/champion here.
Paul Millsap-UFA.
-Having a good shooting season. Might be a little old for us to sign long-term..
Tobias Harris-RFA.
-Restricted. So I guess we'd have to wait and see what Orlando does. But I'm all for it.
Patrick Patterson.
-Not sure what Houston would want in return. But certainly a good option.
Ryan Anderson.
-Bad defense. But. Who knows. Maybe something could be worked out?

Only way Bosh hits the open market is if Wade is officially done and Miami wants to go into a rebuild. In that case Detroit would have to gauge whether paying Bosh a max contract at his age is worth the price.
Nikola Mirotic?

Doubt the Bulls would look to move him. It took them years to bring him over, and they'd be much more open to moving Gibson, or letting him walk before trading Mirotic.
Kevin Love-PO.
-Miracle shot SVG convinces him he'll be an MVP candidate/champion here.
Not impossible, but unlikely. If Cleveland makes the finals, I'd imagine Love probably picks up his option for next season.
Paul Millsap-UFA.
-Having a good shooting season. Might be a little old for us to sign long-term..
Not a real stretch 4. Barely hitting over 30%. Relies on his athleticism a lot, and is beginning to show his age. I'm not too high on Millsap for where this team is.
Tobias Harris-RFA.
-Restricted. So I guess we'd have to wait and see what Orlando does. But I'm all for it.
Detroit likely can't get Butler or Leonard. But, Harris is definitely a player that seems available if you price him out of where Orlando wants to pay. I like his upside a lot as a stretch 4, or a tweener. I would definitely support a hard push for Tobias.
Patrick Patterson.
-Not sure what Houston would want in return. But certainly a good option.
Pretty sure he plays for Toronto. You always seem to have some dated misinformation in your posts.

Ryan Anderson.
-Bad defense. But. Who knows. Maybe something could be worked out?
Best stretch 4 in the game. But, the guy just can't stay healthy. I wouldn't give up much in a trade for him.

None, let's just keep it moving with Monroe as our starting 4.

You guys crack me up.
We have an All Star level PF, who has played incredibly well next to our franchise center & you guys want to replace him.
All while our PG position has been up & down, our 2 guard has been the poster boy for inconsistent & our 3 has been either Kyle Singler or 72 year old Tayshaun Prince all year.
Whatever we do lets keep focusing on the only 2 solid positions we have.

Nothing wrong with having 3 good front court players man. 96 minutes a night to be had at the 4 and 5 positions. Three great guys playing 32 minutes a night is not too little.

Re: Stretch-4 Options Thread
As much as it pains me to say it, I think we'll get Ryan Anderson in a Sign n Trade for Monroe next year. I think Monroe wants to go there, and getting Anderson in return makes sense for both parties. I think we get more than just him, but his contract helps match things up, and NO has little use for him with Monroe and Davis together. SVG can play more four out, one in like he wants anyways - at the end of games, having either Monroe or Drummond on the bench is just a waste of talent.
The reality is that Monroe turned down millions and millions of dollars to ride this out and leave. Could he change his mind? I suppose, but I doubt it.

Re: Stretch-4 Options Thread
If Monroe is not apart of this team next year, it absolutely has to mean one of a two things:
1. We picked up a better bigman to replace him.
2. He rejected our offer (not due to the lack of $$ offered)
Not trying to resign him isn't even an option in my opinion. How in the world could we justify that if our goal is to build a contender?
I disagree. I think the reality is that he turned down millions of dollars to gain the freedom to make his own decision after playing for a team with a losing culture that had won 30 or fewer games in all 4 seasons of his rookie contract and had 4 different head coaches in that span. And, we signed another player who plays his position long-term. Things are very different now, and the outlook of the team has changed under SVG. Had Jennings not gone down I think we're in the playoffs now. Moose wanted the freedom to make his own decision and not be tied down to a franchise that had shown very little progress in his time here, and now he's got it. But things have changed, if only a bit.

I believe an underrated factor in the Monroe negotiations last year was the 5th year contract. I'm sure Stan was very clear the post rookie 5 year deal was reserved for Drummond. Now that Monroe is no longer coming off the rookie deal we can give him the 5th year and give Drummond our post rookie 5 year deal.

Re: Stretch-4 Options Thread
As for the "stretch 4" list the only two realistic options on it are Harris (who'll likely go to the Knicks as he's been rumored there) and Anderson (who Stan has a history with and the Pelicans are a bit of a wildcard.

Re: Stretch-4 Options Thread
I really want Anderson bad but like the OP mentioned he is pretty injury prone at this point. My dream scenario would be having a 3 man rotation of Monroe, Drummond and Anderson. But likely It would probably take a sign n trade involving Monroe to get it done. I have a real good feeling though we will end up doing that sign in trade in the offseason. It just makes too much sense if Moose does wnt to leave then that's where he would probably want to go to most. And a Davis and Monroe Frontcourt would just be downright filthy. And same goes for a Anderson and Drummond front court as well.

Re: Stretch-4 Options Thread
Tobias Harris and Love (of course) is who I like the most. If we can replace Monroe for a player that fits better I'm all for it. Monroe is good but not great and certainly not a All star imo.
He is a scoring big that's not great at scoring cause he has no jumper and is a mediocre finisher at the rim. Dre and Greg clog up the lane and makes it hard for others to drive in that's a big flaw imo. They play decent together so I don't want to loose him for nothing but it's not like he can't get replaced.

1) Ibid everything everyone has written about Monroe. Point blank, we absolutely have to re-sign him; DrumRoe is, and needs to remain, the identity around which we build this team.
2) An honest question —
Doesn't Love stand to make boat loads more money on his next contract if he opts in next year, as that would push his free agency off until after the salary cap is supposed to skyrocket in 2016? No matter what happens in CLE the rest of this year, I think the financial implications mean Love will wind up opting in.
3) Lastly (and yes, I expect to draw a lot of crap for this suggestion!) — as far as drafting a stretch-4, what about Frank Kaminsky? Assuming our pick is somewhere in the 11 – 16 range, the best SFs are gone and we're looking at drafting a third big anyhow, Kaminsky could actually be a stretch-5 in our offense. So long as he's athletic enough to play alongside either Moose or Dre (particularly on defense), he could play a very specific role for us that might fit his skill set to a tee — backup third big and designated outside shooter.

Not impossible, but unlikely. If Cleveland makes the finals, I'd imagine Love probably picks up his option for next season.

Honestly, I love Tolliver and I'm completely fine with him being our stretch4 off the bench. I wouldn't mind Patrick Patterson, but we don't really have something to give up for him. I doubt the Raptors would just hand him over lol.
Tobias Harris will get paid. I wonder if SVG will Gameplan for a HR attempt like Harris or if he will take a similar approach to last free agency where he looked for role players.

That guy is a beast and going under the radar and I think it's because he's white or something. I think he's the best big in college right now just not with as much potential as guys like Okafor or Towns. But he can do a little bit of everything very well. Hell look at his stat line from tonight?
31pts, 3-4 from 3
8rebs
3ast
2stls
3blks
And he's putting up numbers like this pretty regularly. I'm loving this draft right now. Even if we miss out on one of our SFs there is still guys like this or Turner who would be great assets and prospects.

Re: Stretch-4 Options Thread
Honestly, these games played after the Smith era proved that Drumroe can coexist, or at least the evidence sways in favor of such idea. Unlike the disaster some here have bemoaned about.
However, I think we're a great back up stretch 4 away from having one of the top 3 frontcourts in the league. What we really need is a 3 and let KCP develop.

You have to admit it is 50/50 whether Monroe stays. If he does stay, our plan is obviously focus on best possible SF and the only stretch 4 we would need would be a reserve specialist. But if Monroe is going to leave, this is what we would need.
