Schefter: Eagles trade LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso

Post#1 » by ChrisPozz » Tue Mar 3, 2015 11:45 pm

Adam Schefter:

Filed to ESPN: Bills have notified LB Kiko Alonso he is going to be traded to Philadelphia for RB LeSean McCoy. Trade official next week.

So LeSean McCoy is going to be a Buffalo Bill. And Kiko Alonso will be reunited with former Oregon HC Chip Kelly.

Wow. I knew some said that McCoy could be out in Philadelphia, but wow.

Just saw it on ESPN. Came out of nowhere. Maybe they're trying to cut bait now before McCoy starts declining?

Drew Rosenhaus:

I just spoke with the Eagles organization and there is no trade for LeSean at this time. There have been discussions but nothing finalized

I have very little doubt that Kelly could be successful with quite a few types of backs but I have a soft spot in my heart for McCoy even though he isn't the brightest or has been the most mature individual before.

C.J. Spiller is a popular name to replace him if it goes down. To that I laugh even though it's a fit on the surface. As a football fan if I'm not going to care about my own rooting interests, I'd like to see what Kelly could do with Mark Ingram if I could force him on him.

Greg Roman, you fortunate son of a gun.

CJ Spiller is going to look great if he can stay healthy wherever he goes.

Smart move by the Eagles. This draft and free agent class is stacked at RB. It doesn't make sense to have that much money tied up at RB. I wonder if they hammer out a deal with Maclin now.

I thought people stopped with this crap after it was disclosed that there were like 3 or 4 play callers on this team?

Roman's still the fall guy. I doubt Geep would have even been considered if his values didn't include the power run game as a major component.

Roman is more for power running, thats not exactly McCoy's cup of tea.

Josina Anderson:

A source close to McCoy to me on whether the trade news was a surprise: "Honestly we were under the impression the whole time, that eventually at some point, Chip [Kelly] was going to ask LeSean to restructure his contract--not a pay cut, but convert some of his signing bonus."
