Should be interesting to see if DEN start winning now.

They really helped their cap by moving McGee

Man, EG pretty much took down that franchise in a single trade.

Remember when they were on a rise and posters here were propping them along with CHA.

Its increasingly not fun watching this team play with Randy as the HC. He needs to go.

I knew this game was over at by halftime and suspected it earlier then that.

Dude has to go. There is nothing left he has to offer this team except a higher draft pick.

Whoever our next coach is, I just want it to be somebody who can teach this team how to run the pick and roll properly. It could be as easy as hiring an assistant coach who can do that.

That's our biggest problem, IMO. Wall is simply not good in the pick and roll, and hasn't made any progress in 5 years. Beal is worse in the pick and roll, which is to be expected more so since he's a SG, but we still run so many pick and roll plays for Beal that he either needs to get better at it or we need to stop giving him those looks. Pierce has been awful in the pick and roll as well. Temple is a disaster as always. Sessions has been pitiful so far.

Andre Miller was the only decent pick and roll player we had, and even then, he was just slightly above average. Gortat is supposed to be one of the best bigs in the pick and roll, and his play in that area has sharply declined since his time in Phoenix and Orlando (partly because of age perhaps, but more likely is that Nash and Dragic were great at running the pick and roll, while Wall is terrible). Gortat's main talent is going to waste. Or alternatively, can you imagine how much worse Wall would be in the pick and roll without Gortat? My god...

Just checking in to see a head line reading.

Wizards fire Randy Wittman.

How sad is it to be here again at the same time as last season.

But no such luck.

Carry on.

Bill Simmons is in studio with Kornheiser today. They just discussed the Wizards for a segment and Simmons said flatly that Wittman should be fired immediately.

Both Kornheiser and Simmons called out Ted for publicly "warning" via his blog. They said you don't do that -- you don't undercut people who work for you like that. Just fire the guy or keep your mouth shut.

FYI Wall was a notch above league average in the pick and roll with Gortat last year

I'll agree that John hasn't been a force on the PnR like some other elite players have, but he's drastically improved from his first 3 years in the league, and the notion that he's "terrible" in the PnR is ludicrous.

Always enjoyed Simmons. Glad to see he is giving this a voice. Hopefully we got some of this covered in a NBA halftime show.

We need a ground swell.

It this the broadcast ? I scanned it and didn't hear anything.

Basically Broussard saying that if the Wiz continued to struggle or if the Wiz lost badly in the 1st round there could be major changes in the organization. I'll believe when I see it

Remember the column on Grantland a couple weeks ago basically showing what the problems are right now, the ground is swelling Ted just refuses to believe it or act on it.

Firing Witt isn't going to solve everything or anything. We need a new GM next season with a new plan. There is a way to compete for the East title but still attempt to get KD. We would be absolutely stupid to not at least try and keep cap space for one of the best players in the league, who is from this area, yet do our best to shape this team the right way by improving the bench and adding a little more athleticism from the wing.

Im still in the minority of not wanting EG but still thinking Witt is the bigger problem. Dont tell me we dont have the talent to compete with just about any team in the East. We should be conference contenders right now with a competent coach. Instead we have Randy "Try Harder" Wittman. This new article is just another Witt classic http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2015/03/05/randy-wittman-would-like-the-wizards-to-try-harder/

I also disagree about Wall and the p&r. Again, Ive been saying all along that its the system and the lineup. We dont run it the way other teams run it. Our p&r is ran for Wall to always throw it back when it should be ran to free Wall up and get him one on one with the big. Our bigs dont set real picks to let Wall blow by the. They set half picks and then pop or roll so they can get the pass back. Wall has basically no chance to get to the rim the way we run the p&r. Its not a North & South play with us. Its an East & West play that has Wall moving sideways instead of towards the rim. The only way to offset the terrible design is to have Wall playing with a stretch 4 but we never do thatt either. Its all coaching. You can say Westbrook is 10x better then Wall but there systeem is so much more wide open and Ibaka is hitting 3's.

SVG with Wade was the same way. It was all about setting the pick to get Wade one on one wiht the big. They won a title like that. Our picks arent designed that way. They just arent. Its super hard for someone like Wall to get to the rim this way and if he does then he has to force an attempt at the rim when he should be owning the big. Ive seen him try to split the double. He has that in him like alot of great guards but he cant do it with the way Flip & Witt design it. There thing is always about trying to free up the big on a pop or roll when it should be trying to get Wall a running start one on one with the opposing big. He would live in teh paint and at the ft line in that system
