I'd take Russell simply because of his higher 3 point shooting %. Mudiay has a lot of work to do on his jumper but on the flipside he is young and more athletic than Russell.

Because Russell has an actual jumper he is the better fit with Noel and Embiid day 1.

I still think we will need a guy who can get to the paint to cause chaos tho...that may be Wroten for next year (if he recovers fully),

But either would be fine and neither is without flaws...potentially crippling ones.

Russell's lack of explosion could make his awesome jumper useless. Mudiay lack of a jumper can make him an awful longterm fit.

You have to weigh that. Can Russel overcome his shortcomings and if not will they hold us back? And the same goes for Mudiay..

Like I said tho..Russell is the better fit on paper with Noel and Embiid and I imagine if both are on the board, Russell is the guy we'd take.

Question.. What's stopping Russell from being the next Steph Curry?

Btw, I've switched to Russel bandwagon for now

Could be a case of Steph vs Jrue/wall here. But russell is close to steph than Mudiay to being Jrue/Wall.

The flaw I find in Russell's game is that he might not be a good defender at PG. I think there's not much issue attacking the rim if he can continue to score efficiently. I also think that like Curry, we should expect him to gain some muscles in time that should help him better at finishing around the rim and better defender.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

We need a dynamic playmaker more so than a ball dominant orchestrator . It's very hard to find them in this league . Russell on the pick and roll will be literally unstoppable . A see a mixture of Curry and harden in which are the two premier guards in the league on successful teams. Mudiay reminds me of Jrue without the jumper and John Wall in which I am not all that thrilled with especially building around Embiid possibly Noel and making a championship team. The last thing we need is a ball dominant guard who isn't a shooting threat. You don't need a pure point guard to win in the NBA. You need playmakers, shot makers and dangerous scoring threats.

D'Angelo Russell when I think about his P&R / shooting ability in accordance with our front court. His versatility on offense we will need that with dynamic combo of Embiid & Noel. The only thing I worry about is his defense. If he can't stop quicker guards it will lead to break downs on D. And we obviously want to be an elite defensive team..

No contest.

A more interesting poll would be Grant vs, Mudiay. Not what player you would take higher, but which you'd prefer on the Sixers.

Not really.

Mudiay doesn't approach Wall's athleticism and he has nowhere near the shooting ability of Jrue.

Mudiay. I just have a feeling mudiay will be a better defender in the nba than Russell.

Mudiay does look like he has a tremendous feel for getting others the ball, especially in the PNR. You don't really see kids his age with the ability to operate the PNR so well this early on.

I prefer Russell, and even Towns....but IF we truly felt we could develop his offensive game/shooting, I can see the intrigue in a prospect like him.

I really haven't seen enough of Mudiay to know what the kid can do and taking the combo guard from Ohio State gives me irrational Evan Turner nightmares. Of the two Russell would appear to have the more difficult to acquire elsewhere skillset, while Mudiay seems similar, by descriptions I have heard and read, to plenty of other PG's that might become available by trade or other ways.

My overall preference in the draft is Towns, but if we get Russell I would love to pair him with another tall ball handler in Grant or Wright with one of our later picks.

I voted for Russell, but I would be fine with whichever one Hinkie prefers. I like them both a lot.

I'll take Russel for the shooting and bball IQ. I think he's a perfect fit for today's NBA.

Where was Russell ranked on draft boards going into the season? I've seen him play live once in Milwaukee and not much else on t.v. He must have really turned his game up as the season went on.

I'd take Russell, but if we fell to 3 or 4 and Russell is not available, I'd be happy with Mudiay. He already knows how to run pick and roll, and with an offense centered around Big men, that's a pretty good head start. His jumper isn't broken. He just brings it from too low, like a lot of HS players. Lebron used to do the same thing. He'll improve that aspect of his game over his 1st two years, like nearly every other 19 year old prospect has done since the beginning of time.

I posted the same thing on the other thread. I watched some vids from grant and i really like him. Can you give me any inside, he is ranked so low only because he is old? If the vids are any indication i think grant is a really good fit for us

Age and defense. Mock sites are finally smelling the coffee on him, now, though. He's now being projected just outside the lottery. They had in him the mid to late 20's before that.
