OT- Ray Allen to NOT play this year, consider options next year

I would say the overwhelming majority on here didn't wanna see him as a Bull but I still take solace in the fact he won't be joining the Cavs. Never know what a playoff-tested sharpshooter could do to us defensively so I'd regard this as positive news today
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

edit 7/30/21: okay maybe not, but it was a fun ride nonetheless

Just retire already...you are hurting your legacy.

He wants to see where Lebron is playing next year before deciding.
Honesty is my only excuse.

There isn't a clear enough favorite this year, evidently.

no surprised considering prior to ASB, it was reported that Ray Ray would have a decision right after it but still didn't come to one and it's been a few weeks.

LeBron + Miami = Super attractive option for vets, FA's, buy out players.

LeBron + Cleveland = Meh.

I thought with Bron just passing him in points--he'd want to go reclaim his record :D

MJ was still averaging 20 ppg. Ray Allen looked like a shell of himself last season.

Everyone assumed he was joining Cleveland, so this is a minor negative for them.

Getting JR Smith as a Ray Allen insurance policy was extremely wise. Great in season moves from their FO this year.

MJ chicago 29p/36 on 58% ts
MJ wash 21p/36 on 48% ts

ray pre-miami 19p/36
ray miami 14p/36 on higher TS%

ray's game aged much better than MJ's

If he is having trouble for motivation to play this year, I doubt he'll want to get off the couch and play next year. Shuttlesworth, just retire already.

Perkins went for a situation that gives him more minutes and gives him a chance to get one last contract.

Thats more of an indictment on Clevelands thin frontline than a recognition of Clevelands pulling power as a nice city to live in.

Just retire and play some golf, oh and have a damn cheeseburger already.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Veteran players such a Shawn Marion, Mike Miller and James Jones along with Perkins all took pay cuts to play with Lebron in Cleveland. I wouldn't use 40 year old Ray Allen who's on the brink of retirement as an indictment to say free agent don't want to sign with Cleveland. All of those players could have chosen to sign elsewhere but didn't.

So, Cleveland is attractive as Miami as a player destination?

Or are you implying that location doesn't play a role in player decisions?

Miller and Jones are besties with LeBron. And they are being embalmed as we speak. Marion is already at the taxidermists office.
